Amazing dog friendly resteraunt, we had a superb meal, the service was excellent very friendly and efficient. The lamb was beautiful as was the duck starter. The menu is quite concise but there is enough choice and it means what is on the menu is excellent.
Highly recommended for a very nice meal.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Roast sirloin (£21) and the Lemon Meringue Pie cocktail (£10). Albeit a bit expensive, you absolutely get what you pay for which is high-quality food and drink by great chefs and bartenders. It's definitely staying on my list as a favourite restaurant/bar to go to for a night out.
This should be a 5 star review because the food was good, the servers were friendly and helpful, and the ambience was pleasant. However the kitchen was over whelmed so our food was very late. We arrived at 5.20pm after the theatre for dinner. Our starters came out at 6.30 and we were very happy with the standard of food. Our server informed us that the chefs were backed up and it might be a slight wait. However we didn't get our main meal until 8pm. By this time we were the last people eating when all around us the tables had been packed away and the night club was already playing loud music. We couldn't hear ourselves talk so we had to leave and have dessert and coffee elsewhere. Our server, Claire, was very good and did everything she could to make it right for us so that we would be happy to return. I think we will give it another try. Prices were reasonable for quality and portion sizes. Well recommended.
I would rate 6 if I could! We went in today for a Sunday roast and it was one of the best I have ever had. Everything was on point, with the added joy of a beef brisket croquette for the roast beef and a lovely cauliflower cheese dish as a side. The pork and beef roasts were tender and cooked to perfection. We also tried the biscoff espresso martini and the bread and butter pudding. Wonderful ambience, and we particularly enjoyed the music. The service was very good, and the food arrived faster than we expected.
Edit: visited again on 20/08/23 - still the best Sunday roast in Southampton! Highly recommended!
Really delicious food and right by the Mayflower theatre, so handy for pre theatre visits. The staff were all really pleasant and helpful too. We went on a Wednesday so it was quiet and that's what we wanted but I imagine it's got a lovely atmosphere on busier days.
Unusual location in a disused church. Chance place to eat before taking in a show at the Mayflower theatre opposite. Happy to supply a snack lunch. We had delicious wild mushroom soup with sourdough toast. Good service, obliging, efficient staff. An all-round pleasant experience. Be very happy to eat there again.
A high price point for a roast dinner in comparison to surrounding restaurants in Southampton but the beef roast was delicious and the portions are huge! Really high quality food and a must try if you’re a big roast dinner fan.
Lovely converted church. Decent cocktails. Great food - I had the chicken - piping hot & tasted great. Our waiter, Norbert, was friendly & polite, allowing us to take our time ordering & eating.
Papillon is situated in one of the iconic buildings in Southampton. The interior is well preserved and decorated really well. I found the tables quite small though, not much space to move around with food and drinks. But the customer service was brilliant, and the food was amazing. We had the vegan burger, triple cooked chips and warm pistachio cake. Each one of them were perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. Specially loved the pistachio cake that was served with cream cheese frosting. The combination was epic and the cake melted in the mouth. We had a great experience dining there and highly recommend this place.

Our daughter and son-in-law chose Papillon as their Wedding venue and what a perfect choice that turned out to be… from the moment we stepped foot into the beautifully decorated venue, to the excellent service, delicious food and wonderful atmosphere until leaving the more energetic ones dancing into the early hours, Papillon gave us all the most wonderful day. Special thanks go out to Maria the Wedding coordinator whose hard work very much appreciated, Tom, Head Chef and team and all the other hard-working, cheerful members of staff that helped to create these very special memories. Excellent choice for a Sunday Roast. On our way back from the Isle of Wight festival with 4 other friends, we were looking for a cool place to eat before our train back to London. The waiters were extremely understanding of our situation: food and drinks were delivered super fast, with extra care on allergens. We had an amazing time. Thanks to the team, and bravo to the kitchen as it was one of my best sunday roast.
PS: spot outside is great, but inside looks super stylish as well. Would recommend go by!
