It was one of the best vegan burgers I had! I would highly recommend it to anyone to visit this place! It has a rock n'roll style, so it is very casual and relaxed yet serving amazing food. The meat version I am being told is equally good, and the set of any burger with chips comes with such large portion that its hard to eat it all. The chips on its own are amazing - proper hand-cut, skin on chips that taste freshly made.
Amazing value vegan and meaty burgers. Lots of flavour with fresh ingredients used in these burgers. The largest and tastiest onions I’ve ever had. Meat eater enjoyed the meaty tasting vegan burgers. And unusual to see bagel bun - which was different and also gluten free !! Generous portion of fries. Go pick it up for the best value.

I always forget how filling and wonderful the food from black pheonix is. I almost couldn't start on my burger because I enjoyed the GIANT gf onion rings and loaded fries so much.
The gluten free bun isn't as much fun as the blue buns or pretzel/brioche options but they don't detract from the rest of a burger which is a massive plus in comparison to other gluten free burger options I've had.
I had the Vegan and gluten free burger from the new autumn menu "bean" burger: soft gluten free bun, jackfruit patty, BBQ pit beans, hash brown, black treacle bbq sauce, vegan cheese mix. It was so flavourful and incredible but seriously I could live off the the giant onion rings.

Fantastic for dietary restrictions like vegan and/or gluten free as well as the meat eaters. No one is left out of some truly awesome options.
There's a reason why this pubs call the black phoenix...because their burgers and fries are top of the pecking order, well made and of high quality without hardly any oil!
Been looking for a decent burger place for a while, the fries were amazing and the pretzel burger and Mac cheese an awesome idea, what a combination it wasn't overpowering absolutely hit the spot!! The burger was the perfect size, you get X2 burgers and it's not too much so fills you up perfectly.
You can even choose how you want the beef cooked which I wasn't even aware of!
No more buying x4 small cheese burgers at maccds for me, thanks so much and to Uber eats!!!
I absolutely love it here. Been 3 times already. Vegan options are incredible. Food is really tasty. Really great location too as theres loads of parking right next door. Staff are really friendly. Great great pub.
Amazing service and the food oh my goodness the food.....Amazing....the beef the brisket the taste quality and presentation... bit pricey but definitely worth it, the loaded chips never seen so many choices.
Wouldn't say my type of music and atmosphere but go early for the food, in fact it was quiet when I went with younger friends during week and I was spoilt for choices so I bought 2 meals and took one home boxed and bagged....good choices of soft drinks for a pub.....cream soda.....just loved it even though came in a can, but glass and ice supplied......these guys don't look like they can cook but wow......
THE BEST BURGER I HAVE EVER HAD! There's not a lot of vegetarian options around Southampton, but I am incredibly happy that I found The Black Pheonix Pub. I had our meals delivered by Uber Eats, and the food was still piping hot! Pictured is the 'Lucy' (Veggie burger topped with cheese and peanut butter in a pretzel bun) and I thoroughly recommend it! I'd happily eat it again! We also ordered the 'Frazzle', Vegan Loaded Fries and Cheeso's (I put one of them inside the buger) and everything was wonderful!

We'd heard good things about the vegan roast so came to check it out and we were not disappointed! The staff were super friendly, the food was amazing, music was good, and there's a great beer selection 🍻

The food and atmosphere at this place is always wonderful. Access to the building is challenging with a wheelchair (small step for both doors) but the staff are very helpful.
I'm vegan and my husband is an omnivore and we are both always delighted to eat here! I always order much more than I can manage (portions are very generous!) because I'm so excited to eat all the things! And a lovely range of rums to try too.
We took advantage of the Meat Free Mondays 20% off deal which ls great value. I noticed there are other offers available too.
I don't know how they do their onion rings but we both think they're the best we've ever tried!! Can't recommend enough.
Also, an actively, vocally inclusive venue is something very precious for this city and I value it highly.
Chose The Black Phoenix for a little reunion meetup with friends and we had a fantastic night! The food was outstanding and the staff were brilliant. Delicious selection of beers, great music, what more could you want? We'll be back!!
Travelled down to Southampton to see a friend and have a Sunday lunch. A great experience. Everything was excellent, both food & service.
The roast was quality, really well seasoned, and could not find a fault.
We went for the cauliflower cheese too and were pleasantly surprised to find that it contained applewood cheddar that gave it a well-balanced, smokey flavour, a must visit. Incredible.

Fantastic new alternative venue with a very relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and very competitive drink prices. The cocktail menu is insane as well!

Wonderful place. Intimate venue, classic pub setting. Very nice artwork (including a large tree made of upcycled wood!)
Prices reasonable, food is good and staff friendly. Absolutely recommended.
Awesome range of drinks and food, all unique and actually really nice too - so much that we go back whenever we hear about new specials. The staff are always friendly and it's a great atmosphere. Bonus points for having fantastic vegan options!
The building has a great interior which amplifies the atmosphere. Food is seasoned perfectly and tastes delicious. Slightly overdone but the flavour more than makes up for it. Highly recommend.
