On opening day, the Common Rooms instantly became Southampton's #1 craft beer bar. Always serving a great range of keg craft from sessionable pales to imperial stouts, with over 20 beer lines including a selection of cask beer too. There is a very well stocked set of bottle fridges for takeaway beer and monthly 'meet the brewer' events are planned with tap takeovers. To partner all the great beer is the permanent residency of "Bark and Brisket", a former pop up stall that serves a range of delicious American BBQ style smoked and spiced meats on a rotating menu. With a large interior and relaxed atmosphere, the Common Rooms is unbeatable.

Delicious food (oh my goodness those bhajis)! Tapas food particularly well presented and love the option for mini-versions of the burgers so you can try different ones. And even a bbq themed pudding to boot!

A new child and dog friendly independently owned bar kitchen with - Over 100 beers in the fridges for drink in or takeout (with a 20% discount on takeout), 20 draught taps including cask and real ale, keg, cider and prosecco on tap. Over 30 spirits including gin, vodka, whisky, bourbon, tequila, mezcal and ports. Over 10 wines including prosecco in bottle. A range of mixers and soft drinks as well. Every single one of these products has been sourced from independent companies and makers - and wherever possible locally too - but specialist products are brought in from all around the world. Coffee, tea and pastries too. Retro gaming consoles for free play. Full food menu in a BBQ tapas style featuring local specialist bark and brisket.

Eclectic beer selection, universal retro gaming systems, delicious bites. What more do you want? This place has flare, like in the shenanigans or an 80's Christmas tree. Get your unique craft beer fix and listen to ballads. Good stuff CR.

*UPDATE* Now sadly permanently closed. Great pub on the same site as the not much missed Chalk Valley pub. Same layout as the old pub, two rooms with the bar in the right hand side as you walk in. Four handpumps which aren't all used all week, only two on when I visited but this was a Tuesday night so not very busy.

Great beer, great staff, great food! The beer has a fantastic selection (even more so when you include the bottle fridge) and the staff are always really knowledgeable and friendly. There is also an excellent food menu - I had the beefburger and falafel and it was really impressive. Would definitely recommend a visit!
