Have walked to this pub many times since moving to Bishops Waltham 2 years ago. Staff are very friendly and have made us feel at home on every visit. Have eaten here a as a couple & with friends and the food is always good, especially Sunday lunch. On our latest visit there was a pop up kitchen and we thoroughly enjoyed our Tapas, which was excellent value, the Banana Brioche pudding was delicious.
It has become our go to local even though it's a 2 mile walk from home.
Went for a walk on Saturday afternoon and came across this place, but we had read good things about it. What a great, proper old pub this is. Bar staff so genuine and nice. A few locals with their dogs sitting at the bar, and a couple of table occupied. Garden looked lovely in the sun. It dimly lit which is nice with candles lit on all the tables. We didn't need to eat but menu looked amazing. Will defo return for a date night.
We stopped quite late for lunch but the owners were very happy to make food up for us, including 2 half size fish and chips as we're not big eaters. My friend was extremely happy to find quality cider for sale, and the beer was pretty darn good too. 👍
What an absolute gem of a pub. The staff are very outgoing and friendly, the food is excellent and they have a great selection of beer. I look forward to our next visit.
Outstanding Sunday roast in the most beautiful quaint pub! Can’t recommend it enough. Every bite on the plate was delicious and obviously made with love- from the gorgeous rare organic aged beef to the cauliflower cheese and all the trimmings it was delicious! The pub is in a pretty and peaceful village with a gorgeous beer garden to enjoy the sunshine. Tables are laid out with comfy cushions, and candle lit with a roaring open fire nearby. A must visit! oh and make sure you try the homemade scotch egg- to die for!!! Thank you to the staff and owners for such a warm welcome x
Lovely village pub.
I’m currently visiting the village and was invited to attend a quiz night at the pub. Ashamed to say it was my first ever pub quiz and I wasn’t too much help yo my team who came in 2nd.
The pub is quintessentially English with exposed beams and several fire places.
Upham is a small, rural village and therefore it seems like all the patrons know each other. Sorta reminded me of the sitcom ‘Cheers’.
The menu looks great and I’m reliably told by several of the patrons that the food is very good. I had bangers and mash on quiz night and can confirm it was great.
Well worth a pop in to wet your whistle if you’re passing through Upham.
I only dropped into this little hidden gem in Upham whilst on a countryside drive. Understand, this isn't an easy place to find, but I'm guessing with SatNav discovery is easier than guessing?
Very nice staff and seems to be very well supported, presumably by locals rather than those travelling from distance? Not exactly overflowing with choices in their beers, ales, lagers and ciders, but I had a very good pint of Goodens Gold Bitter...and at £4.50 was very well priced and tasted great.
Definitely worth searching for.
Didn't eat on this visit. Just popped in on a Saturday afternoon with a group of walkers. Great to see it was really busy. Nice pint of Flacks Double Drop. Great village pub.
Lovely pub, very busy, I had half a pint of Christmas Cracker. Sadly I think it was well beyond its date as cloudy and quite acidic but the lovely pub and the atmosphere made up for it. Quick service too

Excellent little pub, as you can see from the photo, lots of character - rare these days. Service was super, food was delicious & reasonably priced. I forget the dog's names, but will definitely be back to see them and sample some more of the menu. Worth a visit!
