We made several friends over the course of a few hours one evening. The clientale were also friendly and took an interest in us because we were from elsewhere. It was just an overall wonderful time and we are definitely going back!

An amazing experience in a pub steeped in history and clearly one which values its history. We had a great meal there of fish and chips and bangers and mash. Portions were large and the food excellent. The barmaid was friendly and managed a busy workload very well.

Popped in here on a Saturday evening, a rare night out for me and the husband.
The Red Lion is great! Everyone chats to everyone, the music is chosen by the customers and everyone was singing no matter what the song. Bar staff were friendly and polite. We didn't eat so can't vouch for the food, but I'm planning on going back there for lunch soon so will edit my review accordingly!
Would definitely recommend The Red Lion if you like a small, friendly, local feel mixed with a lot of history.

Old school pub on the outskirts of Winchester with a beer garden. Nice array of options, especially for me as a vegan. Had the vegan roast, which was a pie (not just a pastry lid), which was very tasty, and lovely rich gravy. Pleasant staff and big portions. Very dog friendly too!
Had a birthday meal here with 7 others and enjoyed it immensely. Great chef, someone had the mixed grill, which is a challenge to cook let alone eat! Reasonable selection of beer at a reasonable price.
