On 14 th November we had our wedding at the bowling green Karen had done the room so lovely it was unreal we couldn't have done it better our selves it was absolutely stunning the food and the service was excellent we kept getting asked if we was OK ? Did we have any food ? Me and my husband were both asked on a couple of occasions have you eaten ? We will plate something up and Karen did as we were making sure all the guests were OK we was taking care of very well food was constantly been brought out it was very decorative and nicely arranged the whole time as we booked the venue right till the very end we new we had done the right thing booking the bowling green we can not big it up enough what a fantastic day and the venue was the icing on the cake to all the bowling green staff especially karen a massive thankyou
We rarely go out, but we decided to come here Christmas Eve. It was really busy. The bar staff were really efficient at serving people, whilst chatting and jiggling around to the disco. The atmosphere was jovial and everyone didn’t mind it being so busy. The disco (which I’m not a fan of) played decent music which kept the atmosphere alive. A pub well worth a visit. They do food, but they’ve also got some tv screens (prob for footy)
Went to the wine and nibbles night yesterday and had a brilliant time! Food was amazing as was the wine. The lady hosting was lovely and didn’t make us feel like idiots for not knowing anything about wine! Massively recommend, it was such good value for money (6 glasses of wine and a course with each!) would 100% go again �
The wine and nibbles night was great, amazing value for money it included 6 glasses of wine and a dish to compliment each flavour for only £11.95 the host was absoloutley fantastic going around and talking to each table i would 100% attend another night like this and similar events and would reccomend to everyone. Great atmosphere and got everyone socialising.
7 of my friends and I went here for the Christmas dinner and party night had a fantastic time delicious food lovely staff and a fab disco I would highly recommend this and we're already talking about going next year thanks to all involved for making ita great night xx

My son & I popped in to the bowling green pub in September it was very busy & a great atmosphere good choice of beers � the food looked & smelt lovely, the bar staff were pleasant I would recommend a visit �
Superb meal Saturday evening and, as always, very well looked after by Karen and her staff. The chicken liver special starter was very very good as was the smoked cod loin special main. Looking forward to our next visit x

Exceptional quality of food, service and hospitality. I was amazed by not only the number of dishes available on the menu for a small town pub but the quality, portion size and prices were also a pleasant surprise.

Our recent visit to The Bowling Green was exactly what we were looking for - a relaxed evening with some pub grub classics. We decided on a burger and a Caesar salad, which were both on point.
Euan, our server, struck the right balance of attentiveness without being intrusive. He was friendly and ensured our orders were taken care of promptly.
The burger was a classic delight - juicy and full of flavor. Paired with a side of crispy fries, it hit the spot. The Caesar salad, fresh and well-dressed, provided a nice contrast.
While we only tried a couple of items from the menu, it's clear that The Bowling Green offers dependable pub fare. If you're in the mood for some comfort food in a relaxed setting, this is a good choice. Kudos to Euan for a pleasant evening.
in short.. great! Exactly what you as a “foreigner” imagine an attractive pub and diner to be. Great facility. Very nice and friendly staff. Tasty food. Would love to come back.
Family Birthday. The food was very good and the service good. Next room to restaurant a rather noisy quiz was in progress that made conversation a little difficult at times.

The Bowling Green is a strictly run, clean and friendly Public House. The staff are always friendly, efficient and the Landlady is exemplary with her standards. 🥇
The food is absolutely beautiful and, unlike so many places, you get good portions as well as beautiful presentation. There is a restaurant area inside the building, as well as a spacious seated outdoor area for when the weather is nice - you can eat anywhere you like on the premises. 🥩🥗
Beer? The drinks are stored correctly and at the right temperature. All the beers and Ciders are dispensed from immaculately clean pipes (I know this from witnessing the very thorough and regular cleaning). 🍾🍺
For me, a massive factor - and a 'dead giveaway' to any pub - is their toilets. The Bowling Green Toilets are always kept extremely clean and, yes, they smell nice. There is always well maintained hand washing facilities, too - unlike 80% of everywhere else in our dirty society. 🚽
If you want a bit of class when visiting somewhere to eat and drink - but still wish to relax in a place which isn't crammed with stuck-up ponces, then The Bowling Green is definitely one such place. 🤗
It is a nice place to go for some drinks, lunch or dinner.
However, the food options are not too varied from my point of view, if you are looking for some healthy, vegan or vegetarian options.
The outdoors area looks really nice.
Good place to get a pint. Plenty of out door seating. Can't really comment on the food as not had any for ages.
Fabulous food, great service. Had the black pudding onion bhajee starter, what a taste sensation. Tex-mex burger and Cajun chicken burger were fantastic.

Delighted with the choice on the menu- didn't know what to pick. Usually i can't decide between two or three dishes, but this evening wanted half the menu. Opted for bellie pork- difficult dish to pull off but it was perfect with fresh perfectly cooked veg. . service could not be faulted - very polite, attentive and charismatic waiter. Visited the pub May Day bank holiday, having walked the dog around the nearby public footpath/bridle way and have to say we had a great experience.....
The pub was busy but the staff were helpful, food didn't take too long to arrive and with portion sizes generally decreasing, but costs increasing, we were pleasantly surprised and felt it was really good value for money. Would recommend and will return when we can. Thank you.
