I didn't go in as it was afternoon but it looked very impressive .....they had outdoor seating with heaters all very nicely done tasteful ....the menu was varied but you can go for drinks only . I thought it was worth reviewing ....worth s visit
It is named after a South Shields lad born 1892 and died at Anzio Cove Galipoli 1915. He was a stretcher bearer and he and his donkey Duffy have been mentioned in a book about the war
Very large, high ceiling public house situated on King Street a well maintained pedestrian thoroughfare in the heart of South Shields. Great bar area with the usual, gin, rum, vodka, whisky and cocktails. The menu is traditional, with burgers and steaks and varied at a reasonable price too. I doubled up my gin for another £1.50... There's seating on the ground floor as well as upstairs and there's a pool table on the ground floor.
Wow food was fabulous for the price and staff very polite.
Ive always liked this pub. But since the new take over ive noticed vast improvements. From them being more dog friendly' right down to the food. Now im not saying the food was bad before because it wasnt. I am saying its of a different quality.. dont believe me!!? . Just call in for a full English breakfast 1 morning and i guarantee you will not be disappointed. Eggs are nice and runny, sausages are nice and fat and tasty. And the Bacon... arrr, there the best ive had.. flame grilled to perfection.. all washed down with a strong cup of coffee.. perfect start to any dog walking day..
Lovely meal with pudding & drinks for 5 people all adults special deals under £90. Relaxing, warm comfortable & clean. An enjoyable visit., would recommend
The staff are absolutely spot on. Couldn't ask for better or friendlier service no matter who is on. Also the food is well priced, well cooked, and we'll presented. So my wife and I, although from Sunderland, are more than happy to go there every 2/3 weels
I would highly recommend food is delicious and portion size is really good. Staff are really welcome and polite. Will definitely be back again. 😁
I have been here on many occasions, bar staff v friendly good quick service, clean, excellent back ground music, brilliant if you wish to chill with friends and family. Also noticed the menu named Food For Thought, from Mighty Monday through to Let's get Social on a Sunday, Every day you have a choice to suit most pallets, I would highly recommend Kirkpatrick's.I wish to point out that there is Disabled Bathroom facilities available on ground floor, always clean and accessible.
If you are not with disabilities then toilets are situated on upper floor not a problem for the fit buggers of society.
Nice traditional pub in the heart of South Shields. Cheap but decent pub food and very good deals. Very busy on weekends when locals get on the dance floor to unwind with pop beats and drinks deals.
Great prices and way cheaper than the pub I drink in Newcastle.
Haven't tried the food so can't comment. But the drinks were well served in tip top condition.
excellent food , great staff nice cold beers . would recommened to go
The food is amazing and the staff are great . If you are in South Shields then pop in even for a coffee or a pint ,food . All go for all 3
