Was up from London and after having a terrible breakfast somewhere else, have to say I was more than impressed with not only the breakfast but service recieved. Staff were so lovely. I would recommend to anyone and the price is so cheap compared to what I'm used to paying. Would travel all the way up just for the breakfast 10/10

After popping in to the Customs House in South Shields only to be met with terrible service and promptly leaving we looked for another Cafe and ended up here. It is a no frills 'old school' cafe but clean, welcoming, great food at excellent prices. Forget your chain coffee shops and so called bistros selling cheap frozen fodder at inflated prices. Go to this place, behind the Metro station in town centre. Excellent.

Go in a couple of times a week for the full English breakfast, which is absolutely delicious (especially the black pudding) and at a great price. Staff very welcoming and friendly.

Great breakfast happy smiling staff, as for the review made by daniel moyse, the steps (2 of them) would make it extremely difficult to gain entry by wheelchair, i find his comments very harsh as i know the staff and management at smithys would bend over backwards to accommodate disabled people β™ΏπŸ˜Š
