Visited with my Brother for lunch and drinks.
Was greeted promptly if not politely
Good selection of food and excellent vegetarian selection. The prices were good value for money. The food arrived quickly and large portions. The food was hot and delicious and also well presented. The kitchen staff deserve praise.
Unfortunately bar and wait staff let them down on the customer service side by being completely indifferent and lacking basic manners (Hello, please and thank you) My Brother asked for a Coors beer the bartender snapped,"Don't serve it here" instead of, "I'm sorry we don't serve it could I suggest XYZ" Was treated like a mild annoyance. When the waitress brought our food she appeared and snapped our orders before just plonking it down and leaving. You could tell it was the bare minimum of service she was required. Again bar staff seemed uninterested ordered cocktails which were made with a sullen expression. They were well made though. Toilets were clean and well maintained. Would be happy to go in alone. To be honest a bit disappointed with the place. Not sure if I would return. There were some good views of the sea and dog friendly.
We held a 70th here last weekend for my uncle. Everything was easy to arrange, Manageress kept checking in all night to make sure everything was going OK. Food was really nice, a lot of comments about the good selection. Everyone had a great night.
Absolutely outstanding service from Lucy. Very kind and helpful. She made sure our experience was as the very best. Always has a smile on her face. Always a pleasure to come in and be served by her. A absolute credit to the team at the New Crown. Food was lovely and fresh.
I recently held my 70th birthday in the function room at the New Crown South Shields. I was given free reign to decorate the function room in a vintage Hollywood style and the staff gave me great support in this. The staff were absolutely amazing in helping me organise my party (Thank you to Meg and Caitlin). The food was superb and all my guests remarked how good it was and how the staff created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere,
Haven’t been here for ages, been twice in the last week xx staff are the best, polite chatty and assertive, finally a pub that’s sells baked potatoes , unreal best tuna jacket ever salad has the most amazing dressing work a unreal hint of quinoa had the burger amd fries today …. All my family were more than happy xxx well done staff and chef a very nice addition to our coast xx
This is our second visit for a meal, on both occasions Georgia served us at our table with cutlery, condiments, food and clearing up afterwards, what a credit to your establishment she is, definitely 10 our of 10 for her consistency.
Food was also very good.
Love going to this place for we had our dog and tables are well spread out ,we were in a small group, was nice that we're never feel rush. we order meal/ snacks at bar and was later brought to table nice and fresh ,nice place to relax thanks two staffs that were working today
Good always spot on, steaks are cooked decent. Friendly staff and dog friendly which is a bonus!
Lucy our waitress was great!
Really nice food and absolute bargain drink & curry for 10.50.
Staff were great -Lucy was lovely and even got my unsociable little pup to like her bringing her water & treats, thanks!

Absolutely outstanding service from Lucy. Shes was incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our food. She is a credit to the team.

Myself and my family often come to the new crown for food, The price of the food is great and cooked perfectly and tastes so beautiful. Staff are always so friendly and dogs are welcome too it's great.
Popped in for Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the place was clean and inviting. The food was excellent and service prompt, accurate and friendly. Couldn't fault it!
A busy pub great taff simple but pleasant food o had a steak cooked perfectly for my taste.

Warm ,cosy cheap and cheerful. Very pleasant staff ,unfortunately on a return visit we ordered dessert after the main courses and sadly the portion size was miserable .A minute slice of gateau and one scoop of ice cream priced at £4-95 dreadful which was pointed out to the staff ,and asked to pass the opinion to management. As always the staff were pleasant and polite. If we do return certainly won't be ordering desert they weren't even decent child sized portions.Disapointing finish to an otherwise nice meal .
