We'll Saturday morning and our usual visit to beach with Tissy, first calling into minchellas in the park for breakfast like we've done every week (come rain or shine) for over four years! So here we are sitting outside all wrapped up when this girl comes along with a pug ( not even a puppie) went inside in the warmth she told the staff that she had spoken to the owner who said he would allow it once! The staff came out to explain this to us ( don't think they were happy about the situation either, the owner has just opened a can of worms I hope other dog walkers saw this! The only thing is the two ladies who work there were very nice to us! So much for 5 star food hygiene Mr Minchellas

Excellent location, the place is run with precise organisation. I would not like to imagine how this place would be at weekends. Very busy, clean and the same goes for the toilets. Good value for money. Some of the products were served with synthetic cream and ice cream comes out of a tap instead of a scoop. Hence not giving 5 stars. I would recommend.

A visit to the South Marine Park is not complete without a bite to eat and a cup of tea or coffee. I enjoyed a very welcome and tasty cheese toasty and pot of tea at Minchella's which is situated in the park. The name of Minchella is synonymous with South Shields and has been for many years. When I attended South Shields Marine and Technical College in 1959/60, I used to frequent the ice cream parlour on Ocean Road. The old Marine School was nearby and used used then for the teaching of GCE Maths and Physics. The ice cream parlour offered a welcome respite from these disciplines!!

The food we had was lovely, reasonably priced nice to sit inside the cafe from the hot sun. Lovely view over the lake in the park. Will definitely be going back with the family.

The Americano coffee was lovely, nice and strong. Lemon drizzle cake, best I've had in awhile. £6.20

The place is clean and warm. The quiche was quite tasty, but I'm not sure what gave it the vivid yellow colour. It was busy, but with tables available. Being hard surfaces it was very noisy, so having hearing aids I found hearing hard work.

Breakfast with the family. Lovely food. Rosti was my choice this time. The egg "muffin" was aparrently tasty but was really two eggs in a white bread bun. Good food, pleasant staff, nice surroundings.

Frosty morning walk, was very pleased that Minchella's was open. One toasted teacake and mocha later, served by smiling staff, I was ready to face the cold. Café was busy but not full, dog walkers sitting outside, which I prefer

Lovely staff. Nice menu. Takeaway hatch is really efficient, with lovely coffee! Get a large cup, as regular is tiny and more suited for shorter coffees. Corned beef and onion toasties looked amazing...I'll be back!
