Great friendly staff good size portions🍽️🍺. Didn't have too wait to long. I found the food too be first class. The chips were very nice the curry🥘 dishes were nice and thick great flavours. Would try again 👍

Delicious Traditional Indian Food, Pleasant Staff & Very Good Prices
Work every Spring and Aug Bank hols in South Shields, Over the years tried all the Indian Bengali restaurants, Im not easily pleased but the Star of India is fabulous. The Pickles are Great, Poppadoms Spiced Papads excellent and a good pickle tray as well.
The Tandoori goods are to die for, Rice is great not stuffed into a mould and microwaved, Just good fried Pilau. Curries great had the Tindaloo this time wasnt a nasty brick dust affair but silky smooth and Hot, The Tandoori Chicken was like in India good native Chicken. Cobra good pint as well.

The staff at the restaurant always make you welcome. The food is excellent & very good portions. The prices are very reasonable too.
Food lovely, staff was a disgrace, not pleasant waiters need a lesson in hospitality,
While eating my meal I asked for a drink it came no problem waiter said are you paying separately for it as there were 13 of us dining I said yes and he stood over me and waited for me to stop eating and go into my bag for the money,
When we asked for the bill he stood over us while we sorted the bill out so he could get the money.
Made us all feel bad yes they need our custom but want you in fed and out again. Seem to forget if it wasn't for us customers they wouldn't have a restaurant.
And being 13 of us they got a good deal of money, hence we will not return.
£2-50 for a glass of flat warm coke that comes out of a supermarket bottle.
Great value for money with a £9.95 set menu. Service was good and the food was served quickly. I visited a few years ago and I noted that it's been redecorated very nicely. I would visit again.
Birthday curry for four. Good food, good service and reasonable price. Been open since 1963!
