I visited The School House Restaurant on Sunday 29th April with my toddler and had the best Sunday lunch! When I arrived at the table, there was a highchair already there for my son. The menu was clearly written on a blackboard in the restaurant and had some great starters, main courses and desserts to choose from. I was spoilt for choice as they all sounded great! I decided to go for 3 courses which was only £18.95! I had classic Prawn cocktail, pork roast dinner and honeycomb and caramel cheesecake. It was all good quality ingredients and very well cooked. Even my 16 month old son enjoyed it, especially the cheesecake! Friendly staff, good service and the food was great value for money. Will be back very soon! Thank you for an amazing meal.

I have had both my baby shower and my sons christening party at The School House and both events were fantastic! The staff were amazing and made everything run smoothly from start to finish. The food and the atmosphere was amazing! Can’t thank them enough. Would 100% recommend!

9/7/17. Brilliant afternoon tea, lot better than a heavy Sunday lunch in this heat. Good selection of sandwiches (plenty of them too), sausage rolls, orange marshmallows, scone with cream and jam, finished with a nice sized piece of cake. Glass of Pimms and a cup of decent coffee. Thoroughly recommend

We held a small gathering of friends and family here for an afternoon tea. The service was great and the food was delicious. A good selection of sandwiches, great homemade sausage rolls and the nicest Victoria sponge and scones to finish it off. Staff were on hand to refill teapots and offering refills on sandwiches too. Excellent value for money and I would highly recommend. I would love to come again.

Absolutely lovely food. All fresh and really beautifully cooked. I had belly pork and my husband had cod. Both dishes were faultless. Would really recommend here and can’t wait to come again the strawberry pavlova was the best !!

Me and my fiancé had a lovely meal. The choice and quality of the food was excellent. We would recommend the steak sandwich, if you happen to go around lunch time. Great hospitality and atmosphere. Would recommend a visit for sure.

What a lovely place! We had been at the designer village at junction 28 and were looking for somewhere to eat. Trip advisor came up with this place and we firstly enjoyed a drink inthe lovely garden, then had a really tasty lunch in the beautifully converted school house. We will definitely visit again, probably to sample the evening menu next time.

Had my 30th birthday party on Saturday night and cannot thank the staff enough. Excellent atmosphere was created, warm, inviting and decorated beautifully. Cocktails were even created in my honour which was a lovely touch. The food was amazing with all guests commenting how much they enjoyed it. The homemade quiche, sausage rolls and sausage casserole went down especially well with guests making further enquiries about the food. Would definitely recommend The School House for parties!

Good fare. I've been to this restaurant three times. On all three occasions, the service was good, the food was exceptional and the atmosphere pleasant.

Parking was easy, on the street, right out front.

What a wonderful place. We enjoyed a fabulous meal in great surroundings. The schoolhouse has really eclectic decor with some great artwork. The staff were attentive without being over the top. There was a good selection across the menu. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We were impressed with the prices for the quality of the food. Highly recommend and will be back. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Wonderful dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. Friendly welcome as soon as we walked in and staff were smiling, helpful and efficient throughout. Food was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully (husband said it was the best steak he's had in a long time), and very good value too considering the high quality. Lovely characterful place too, loved the decor. Would absolutely recommend, and visit again! Thank you team for a fab evening.

Cosy atmosphere and great service in a former schoolhouse. Tasty freshly cooked food. The prawns pil pil were large and juicy, very nice. The vegetarian mushroom gnocchi had so many different variety of mushrooms in it. I would like to see more vegetarian options for mains though. Good selection of drinks. Very friendly staff. Would recommended.

Went to the schoolhouse for an evening meal on our anniversary. On arrival there was a hand despenser and a shield across the bar. The staff were clearly social distancing and the tables had been moved to accomodate this. The service and the food was very tasty and well presented as always. We had the superfood salad, lamb burger and sharing platter to start. As always a great experience.

Food was great but leave room for dessert because it's the best part. Atmosphere needs work, it's like the new owners ran out of money and kept a lot of decorations from the place that used to be there. Not a lot of choices in Alfreton but this is a good one.
