Do you ever have food epiphanies? You know, heavens above open and angelic music starts playing, you are overtaken by the ecstatic taste and realise that this food is one of the best things you've ever eaten in your life? Well, that was my experience with MamGu's Welsh Rarebit. It is certainly not the fluffy bunny but a noble creature, full of depth, flavour and complexity. The mix of Caerfai Caerffili and Tenby Brewing Co's Black Flag Ale is simply delicious. Actually, delicious is probably not strong enough! Extraordinary. Exquisite. Perfect. And don't even get me started on the Welsh cakes - the reason why people come to the shop, sometimes from far, far away. They come in many flavours - traditional, cinnamon, chilli chocolate, to name a few, and a few variants: savoury, vegan and gluten free. The last two being especially important for all those otherwise prevented from enjoying the Welsh delicacies. And they are all absolutely amazing! Now, to finish this epic review, I have only one thong to say: Go to Solva, visit MamGu and see for yourself!

Fabulous to pop in for a cuppa, natter and freshly made welshcakes yesterday! The cafe is lovely with a great atmosphere, really enjoyed our drinks and nice to see gluten free options on the menu too. I tried the double chocolate and the coconut and chocolate welshcakes - both fabulous, I highly recommend a visit if you’re in Solva

Just bought some of Mamgu’s welsh cakes at Picton Castle’s Christmas market, got home on a very rainy, miserable Saturday afternoon and tucked into them with a cuppa - absolutely gorgeous......soft, comforting, sweet (but not too sweet !), best Welshcakes I’ve ever tasted (and I’ve tasted a few in my time ), keep up the good work

Delicious Welsh cakes - obviously! The chocolate orange ones were amazing but the traditional were the best - so much nicer than any you can buy in the shops, and I’ve tried them all! Great job Thea and Becky x

Wonderful choice for all our family's oddities, the veggie breakfast was especially impressive though I think we wouldn't get three pancakes again... Even hungry garcons couldn't finish them

Fantastic local business serving great food in the heart of Solva. We enjoyed the wide choice that catered for vegans and gluten free as well as full breakfasts with the added delicious Welsh cakes. With limited seating you might have to wait a short time to get a table, but it is worth the wait.

Needed refreshments whilst exploring Solva, so gave Mamgu Welshcakes Café a go. We sat outside as we had our dog, but they allow dogs inside, if they are well behaved. We had a decaf Americano and a choca mocha. Both were delightful, and we had a lemon Welshcake and a Choca Mocha Welshcake. They warmed them up (sorry for the ignorance, but that's a first for us) and they were delicious, so fluffy and light. Staff were lovely, so thoroughly recommend them if in Solva.

Amazing breakfast - the rarebit tasted simply awesome! There also is a vast selection of different welshcakes available - we tried quite a few and all of them were very tasty! The place filled up pretty quick after opening, so booking a table might be a good idea.

This was my first time trying Welshcakes. What a revelation. They were absolutely delicious! Service was also great, lovely staff. We had the coconut and lime, dark chocolate and orange, ginger and plain Welshcakes. All really yummy, even the baby enjoyed them! Latte was great too. They have a food menu and do savoury Welshcakes too but we couldn't try these as we visited 20 minutes before closing time and just didn't have long enough. We will be back whenever we come back to Pembrokeshire on holiday.

Every time we come home we have to visit MamGu! We had a breakfast bap each which came with a savoury Welshcake. We also came in on a 2 other occasions for coffee and had sweet flavoured Welshcakes. Everything was delicious!

Great meat and vegan breakfast served quickly to the table. I'm still out on the whole Welsh Cakes with breakfast thing but everyone else approved! Would advise booking as we walked up at 9.45 on a Friday outside school holidays and they were full, luckily we managed to sneak a table outside. Dogs are welcome inside and out.
