Highly recommend. I ordered butter chicken, Bombay aloo and egg fried rice. Honestly, the best Indian takeaway I’ve had in a very long time. The curry was perfect and the potatoes were the best Bombay potatoes I’ve ever had. The curry was rich and thick, lots of flavour. Great service. Arrived early. It’s a MUST try. I’m not local so I’m so gutted I may never get to have this again but if I visit the area in future I will definitely return. Fantastic food! Thank you.
This was the Red House pub when I was growing up and wasn't that great. We went to the Flying Elephant on Wednesday to celebrate a birthday and see what it was like. First impressions were great, with both the outside and inside looking much nicer. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our booked table. The menu looks excellent with a mix of Indian, Kenyan and British dishes. We ordered starters and main courses. All the food was really excellent. I particularly recommend the Samosa Chaat! The only slight downside was that the plates for the main course were cold. When we asked whether they could be heated the waitress said 'well they have come from the hot plate' and walked off. We then opined that the service really dropped off and even though it was becoming busier, there were staff just standing around - when we finished our meal nobody cleared the finished ates even after we'd received and paid the bill. At the time we shrugged it off and as I say the food was fantastic so we still enjoyed the meal. However, I would love this place to succeed so improve the service and it will be even better. We will return to see!
Fantastic place.
Three-and-a-half Cobra; mixed starter/chicken sagwa/railway chicken/rice and naan = £50!
All top quality; the railway chicken with undertaste of fresh coriander was awesome.
Well done all at The Flying Elephant!
My first time here some weeks ago. It's quite spacious with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. The food is served at 4.00pm and a reservation is recommended as the place is very popular. The car park is very spacious. The menu is mainly Indian highly rated and excellent english food is also available.
We went for a birthday meal! The staff could not of been more accommodating and welcoming. 8 adults and 2 children running around and the staff was brilliant. Outdoor space is fantastic to keep you entertained whilst waiting for food! The atmosphere was lovely and food was delicious and value for money. We all had a lovely evening will definitely be returning
This was the first time for me trying The Flying Elephant 🐘, and I have to say, I will be coming back again at some point 💯. My family have been before and they said that the service was much better this time compared to their first time, but for my first time I can't fault the service at all. We went on Easter Sunday🥚 and it was not too full and not too empty which was nice as there was a right level of atmosphere. I WOULD RECOMMEND BOOKING IF COMING FOR FOOD as my family said that it was very busy on their first visit 📈.
One note to the management which I do hope read the reviews is that I noticed some of the music paying wasn't child friendly at times, so it might be worth noting ⚠️. Nevertheless do not let this put you off coming!
We were catered to by Muhammad (I hope I remembered his name!) And the level of service was one of the best I've received at this type of restaurant, if the management reads this make sure to give him praise as he's definitely an asset to the place 💯💯.
Onto the food 😋. I will be speaking for the food I ate which was the large mixed grill, we also ordered a vegetarian mixed grill but I did not eat that, so won't be reviewing it. Let me just say this... THE BEST MIXED GRILL WINGS I'VE EVER TASTED 🔥🔥🔥. I would definitely recommend trying the wings as the flavour was nothing I've ever tried before and I will definitely be returning to try them again🍗. The fish 🐟 pakora were lovely and succulent, not oily in the slightest which is my experience in the past with other mixed grills. I didn't eat the lamb chops or kebab as I'm not a fan of lamb. The tandoori chicken was lovely too so put simply, I can't fault the mixed grill and would definitely recommend trying it!
For my main, I ordered butter chicken🍛, garlic and coriander naan and masala fries 🍟. The butter chicken is now my 2nd best for butter chicken dishes, I won't mention which restaurant is 1st but the only reason why is because the butter chicken here did taste a little too tomatoey 🍅, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Yes, I could have sent it back but it wasn't off putting so I ate it! Nevertheless it was still nice but as mentioned there was a strong flavour of tomato. I can't fault the garlic and coriander nann as that was cooked well and tasted nice. The masala fries 🍟 did taste nice but there was a little too much Chatt masala flavour that I got from it, however, I would still get these again.
Overall I can't fault the service, taste and atmosphere. I will be coming again at some point and WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TRYING THE FLYING ELEPHANT 🐘 💯.
Side note: I did not tell the staff I will be leaving my review, and this review is my honest thoughts on this shop! 💯. If you found this review helpful, please rate it positive so that other people can see this review✅
7* Amazing Indian authentic food. Great location with plenty of free parking. Friendly staff and service, Chantal was a great host. Highly recommended when you visit Solihull.

What a spectacular place! Great venue, nice location, excellent service and the Indian food is just sensational. I'm so impressed by this place, it's definitely a hidden gem. I was blown away by the food, honestly, hats off to the chef's. Love the decor too! This has to be one of the best pour of beer I've ever come across. We visit quite often, and I've introduced my friends to this place and they just love it. I must say, I often go for meat based dishes, however the vegetarian curries are just bursting with flavour.
Tasty food. But what I absolutely love about the place is the service. Had a really lovely evening because the staff were so friendly. Emma the manager and CJ were so warming and I would definitely come back again for food and drinks.
Having heard mixed reviews, we visited The Flying Elephant yesterday. We were most impressed. The food and service were spot on. Our dining experience was made all the more special by Chantal, one of the employees. We shall definitely be returning soon.
Went on a Sunday late afternoon, was a bit chaotic, maybe they were short staffed.
Ordered our drinks first, then our food, by the time our starters came we still didn’t have our drinks, had to go to the bar (after telling the waiter twice about this) to get them. Staff behind the bar seemed stressed. Serving staff nice and pleasant. Nice pint of cobra too 👌🏻
I had to go and fetch extra sauce as didn’t want to be a bother as they were so busy, but upon returning to my seat one of the pleasant bar staff asked if he could borrow my seat for 30 seconds to reach something behind the bar, I was still eating my starter but obliged anyway, bizzare.
Regardless of all this the food was delicious, albeit a bit pricey. Would go back again.
Had a fantastic meal here last night. We won a voucher as part of a charity raffle that they'd generously donated as a prize. So pleased to win it as it gave us chance to try it out and we'll be back again very soon. The mixed grill was one of the nicest we've had in a long time and the curry and sides lovely too.
The food was amazing highly recommend the lamb keema matter 😋 👌. Nice warm atmosphere with really nice staff. Definitely a hidden gem 💎
Mid week and didn’t fancy cooking. We came to The Flying Elephant as we have always enjoyed the food and always received good service. Tonight was no exception. The food was delicious. The staff friendly, polite & helpful. If I could change anything, it would be for the table service to resume. When this facility was available this lovely eatery ticked every box!
We had a brilliant evening at the Flying Elephant, the food was great and the service was excellent. Emma and her team took great care of us, giving recommendations on food and wine. Food was delivered very quickly and the brownies were a big hit with the children.
We highly recommend and will be back soon.
We visited the Flying Elephant yesterday (24/05/23) had a lovely evening, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. The setting is lovely and the children really enjoyed playing out in the back garden (a play area would make it even better) Emma behind the bar was friendly and welcoming, the other staff were also great, and nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely be returning and looking forward to some lovely summer afternoons there.
