The Fortune Inn on the Shirley section of the Stratford Road is one of a veritable plethora of takeaways and eateries, including fellow Chinese/ Cantonese restaurant Lucky House. Fortune Inn does all the dishes you'd expect from such an establishment, including sizzling meat mains, soup, duck, and some slightly more unusual ones, such as beancurd dishes. As a sit in restaurant, the prices generally start from around £8.50 per main, or £19.50 for a set menu (with a minimum of two people), so they're pretty standard. What isn't standard, however, is the quality of their food. I often find with Chinese takeaways in particularly that the food quality can vary from week to week, but the several times I've been in to Fortune Inn, it's been nothing less than fantastic. Better yet, if you're looking to eat out for less, they do an all you can eat buffet on Sundays for just £8.80 per person, which is extremely cheap, and the best price I've seen anywhere in Birmingham for a buffet of its kind.

Haven't been here for quite a few years, it is still the same high quality and service I remember. The food is exceptionally good, the service still as attentive. A suberb place to eat 😋 highly recommended 👌
Lovely food the ribs are very big with loads of meat can't remember last time I had ribs that big all other good was very nice, too many to mention.
First time here, lovely food definitely recommend the crispy shredded chilli beef 🥩. Couldn't fault it aside from the lack of chilli in chilli beef it was great. Quiet unassuming little spot worth a quick bite.

Went here for a meal on my birthday and was not disappointed.
The staff were great very attentive and helpful. We went for the set menu with a couple of additional items and they were quite happy to alter things to suit individually tastes.
The food itself was spot on, one of the nicest Chinese meals I have had for a very long time. Would suggest that you don't have a snack before you go, there was more than enough food for four of us and we even brought some of the duck home with us.
Drinks prices were, maybe slightly higher than pub prices but certainly not the rip off prices you get in some places.
Restaurant itself and the toilets were absolutely spotless.
If you are put off by the view from outside (it is right on the main road) don't be. It's what I would refer to without criticising to be a old fashioned Chinese restaurant, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food what more do you want for a pleasant night out.
The food was super tasty and fresh. The service was lovely. I look forward to going back and trying so much more of the menu

We had Crispy shredded chicken, chicken and pork chow mein, curry sauce and chicken balls.
Wow, the curry sauce is one of the best ive had. All items were worth the money

Szechuan & Cantonese food with a varied selection, set menus are truly delicious with very generous portions, prices reasonable, staff friendly, service good & not rushed. Well worth a visit.
Without a doubt the best Chinese food I have eaten in the UK. Seriously this is not your average Chinese it is a cut above any other Chinese restaurant in the area. You can really tell a high level of care and effort has been made to make the food as tasty and high quality as possible. Prices are also reasonable and feel very good value. One thing I will say is portions of rice and noodles are a bit smaller than you might be used too. It's by no means a complaint just be sure to order a couple portions if ordering for more than 2 people or if you like eating alot of rice or noodle. Please keep up the hard work making such nice food, I will definitely be coming back for more.
