1st Visit whilst staying in Heacham.Wow Wow Wow! What a fantastic establishment.Fealt like a lottery winner, from entering the premises to leaving.
Had the Long menu with Wine pairing, I couldn't fault anything. The two ladies that served us, were friendly and efficient. Chef came out once on a course. Wines were perfectly paired.
Absolutely loved it.I will definitely revisit when next visiting area.
What a super little restaurant. No faults on the food, other than a lot of the ingredients seemed to be from the south where Norfolk has a lot of good produce.. but the food itself was exceptional, the service also very good! Going outside to find the toilet in the rain less good, but it’s a cute small building and so not much can be done about that. Would 100% recommend and the rose and crown is a nice and affordable place to stay only 3min walk away
Incredible food, great restaurant serving seasonal and local ingredients.
Absolutely amazing x
Absolutely incredible. Every course was a triumph; a really interesting combination of textures and flavours. Plenty of local and seasonal ingredients which were all extremely high quality. The restaurant is intimate without being pretentious, and the staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable about the origins of the food.
You won't be disappointed.
We had a really nice meal at The Old Bank, celebrating our mother's birthday. Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly passionate staff and delicious food. We went for the larger menu and so glad we did. Only one of the courses was just nice, the others we either really nice or exceptional! There were 2 outstanding courses, the potato, truffle with seeds and the pineapple, greek yoghurt with fennel. There was no talking amongst us three over these two courses, just random sounds of delight and amazement with lots of head nodding. We were so glad we chose this place for a celebratory treat.
The old bank never disappoints. This intimate up-market restaurant is our favourite place to eat in Norfolk.
This old bank is an owner managed business - Husband Lewis in the Kitchen and Wife Aga as the perfect host out front. That said, as your evening draws to a close, you are just as likely to be served by Lewis.
This is a tasting menu experience only. There’s a choice of the longer or shorter menu, and (if you so desire) a wine pairing. The menus change regularly so you can (as we do) go back regularly and get a new experience every time.
Lewis is a talented chef. Every course is not only beautifully presented but perfectly prepared. He mixes flavours and textures in a pretty unique way. We often find ourselves discussing the food, comparing the courses and ranking them on the way home. It’s pretty rare to find a restaurant where you are actually talking about the food on the way home - don’t you think?
The menu is based on local produce and sustainability - and they have their own allotment from whence some of the ingredients hail.
Our most recent visit was as good as ever.
The wine list continues to improve. There’s a good selection of wines at pretty reasonable prices.
In terms of value, this place is excellent. I think it’s probably the best value tasting menu I have ever found.
The service is very special. It’s an owner managed business so expect a passion for keeping the customers happy and an enthusiasm for the quality of what they serve. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. I think the fact that it’s a small dining room helps with the attention given to all their guests.
I cannot recommend highly enough.
My Tips
- Book early. This place fills very quickly. They only have 20 something covers.
- I think the longer menu is the one to go for. If the table next to you get a dish you don’t you’ll be really disappointed.
Oh, wow! From the warm welcome to the cheery farewell, this was a dreamy evening - one to savour and recall with the greatest pleasure. Aga and Lewis and their small team have this nailed. Exquisite food, delicious (and well-chosen) wines, and the most agreeable approach to communicating the joy of flavours, textures and skills. Thank you - a wonderful evening in your company.
Great service and very tasty, well executed food made for a fantastic dinner with friends one Saturday evening at The Old Bank Bistro. The whole experience was faultless, we highly recommend this place and we will definitely be visiting again!
We've since visited again for Sunday lunch and had an equally excellent experience 🤩
Went for Wedding anniversary meal and had the lunchtime 3 courses for £22. Couldn't get in for the evening meal but still amazing. Started with Negroni Spritzer, Slow Cooked Beef for Starter, Chicken main course and Warm Stout Cake with Malt Ice Cream for Desert. Absolutely amazing food all washed down with a Rioja. Would highly recommend.
Beautiful, quality ingredients- imaginatively prepared, perfectly cooked.
Warm, intimate setting, attentive service. Staff are passionate and knowledgeable about the food.
A perfect evening.
