An excellent watering hole for those that can appreciate good beer - a proper pub serving a great selection of real ales and ciders. It's quite a distance for me to travel to but well worth making the effort - especially when Kevin puts on the beer festivals.
This was my local some 40 years ago, its charm and character has remained the same. Its boutique beer and food has transformed the pub into the 21st century.
Despite living in New Zealand I have been back several times when I visit the UK.
long live the British pub and all it has to offer for young and old.
Great pub, people and don’t know of another pub that rivals the beer
Great pub good choice of ales friendly staff nice outside area
Lovely afternoon at The White Horse yesterday. .. food and beer wonderful as always
Lovely food and brill bitter shandy - great atmosphere
Lovely country pub in a quaint village that hold many happy memories for me*****
As always great beer, great clientèle and good service
Beautiful & unspoilt village pub in a lovely quiet location - the M40's just up the road, but you'd never know it!
Very friendly welcome, & a lovely well-kept beer garden out back with flower beds & an aviary. Excellent beer range too, with beer served directly from the barrel - & two very quaint olde worlde bar rooms. Highly recommended! :-)
Great beers, atmosphere and dog friendly (not the whole pub)
A great pub with a proper selection of real ales and also a nice atmosphere!
My absolute favourite pub of all time.
Not sure I can think of a better pub in the area. Amazing rotating selection of cask beers and ciders, a couple of kegs, but best of all, always a warm welcome. And if you’re lucky enough to be here for cheese night you can die a happy man / woman!
Found this pub after being recommended it by a friend.
Had to book a table, but be warned, if you book a late table for Sunday lunch (2pm and kitchen closes at 2.30pm) they may have run out of Sunday roasts!
We just missed out on one!
The one we had was good though!
We need to return...... but earlier!
Really nice old authentic family own pub, with a lot of great beer straight from the barrels. And with a beautiful garden.
Free Cheese night the main attraction 🧲 Beers are fresh there are no pipes. It's barrel to your glass direct. Coming soon Easter weekend beer festival 🎎
Fantastic old school pub great range of real ales and ciders the roast dinner was to die for proper home cooked food set in a warm and comfortable atmosphere will be back
Lovely authentic country pub. Large outdoor seating area. Friendly service, good drinks. Nice selection of game made food.
Lovely, proper old pub. Great food and wonderful outside flower display.
Our favourite pub by miles, not only the best pub in the area by miles it's one of the best pubs in the country. A fantastic selection of ever changing real ales draw people from miles away.
The White Horse is a fantastic, traditional English village pub. They have an amazing selection of ever-changing beers drawn from the cask, as well as more bottles and cans than you could shake a stick at!
Staff are exceptionally friendly, and are willing to offer recommendations even though they can't offer tasters as the beer is in such limited amounts.
The food menu is much more limited than the beer one, but is still good. The ploughmans lunch is great with thick sliced fresh bread, a choice of cheeses and pickles. The fish and chips was lovely as well (although it would have been nice to have some peas, mushy or otherwise, or other veg with it), and the lamb kebabs delicious as well. Desserts sounded lovely, and the strawberry and gooseberry sponge with custard was fantastic! Good, traditional British dessert!
The interior is very traditional - wooden beams, white walls, lots of tankards and jugs hanging from the beams. Whether you're a tourist, or just like good food and beer, the White Horse is worth the journey for a visit!
Amazing range of real ale, food at lunchtimes. A true village local. So special these days, because there are too few left.
What a pub. Great selection of ale. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere.
Nice varied menu of hot and cold home-cooked food. Lovely friendly staff, cosy on the inside, beautiful garden with some covered seating on the outside, good beer too. Great value, one of my favourite pubs ever.
A country pub cosy and full of atmosphere, with friendly service. I had Sunday roast beef - very good meat, although barely warm, excellent Yorkshire pudding and potatoes, but overkill on green vegetables! I suggest at least one less and slightly more cooked - and a larger warmer plate. However still much to enjoy and very reasonable at £11.50.
Wide selection of craft beer and crisps - can’t go wrong with a walk down to this pub for a couple
Proper drinkers pub, lots of real ales, plenty of seating. Parking is a somewhat of a challenge though
VERY NICE PUB. THE LADIES WORKING WERE VERY HELPFUL.ENJOYED
Good range of cask, Craft and real ciders. Great hold cooked lunches. One of the very best pubs in the country 🏆
Amazing genuine English pub with great selection of beer 🍺!
