PLEASE give them a chance.....they only opened up in december & usually it's only the 3 family members there, if you get a sudden hot weekend early in the season then loads of people come out, but they can't conjure staff out of a hat instantly to deal with extra demand. They're doing really well & they're trying to recruit locally so that they can get them trained up & will have cover going into summer, they're lovely genuine people whose hearts are in the right place & they've got a great little business, I was absolutely delighted when the (new) shed reopened.

As many others have said, it's great to see The Black Shed open again. Absolutely excellent. During our weekend we sampled the bacon butties, various cake, lots of tea & coffee and even bought flapjack and bread to take home! Staff friendly, our dog Molly enjoyed the treats too! Looking forward to returning as soon as we can - only one complaint....you're no good for the diet!

This is very unique place, in my opinion.. As name suggests, a black shed, on bank of the river.. But here you'll find people from all walks of lives enjoying the area.. Walkers, cyclists, bikers, families visiting nearby Slimbridge wetlands trust area.. All chilling and watching wild birds, and the river traffic floating by.. See the floodgate being wound up to allow the said traffic pass through.. The food appeared limited, but it's not a resturant.. From seeing leaflets in building, they also hold gigs or artists there at times.. We've been in the area a few times now, and it was our 1st time using the building.. Definitely a place to grab a beverage, cold drinks or coffee.. It's not a MUST go place thst you will detour to, , but if you're nearby and want a genuine welcome with friendly staff, then definitely worth your consideration.. You can also go on boat journeys from this location.. The location has details about these very short but pleasant river journey...

Excellent cafe on the bank of the Gloucester & Sharpness canal adjacent to Patch swing bridge. Fantastic place to enjoy a full English breakfast, hot meals, sandwiches, pasties, cakes, ice cream, hot & cold drinks, plus alcoholic beverages whilst watching the boats go by and the swing bridge in operation when larger craft pass by. The food is great, plus pizza and fish & chip evenings offer good food at reasonable prices, especially taking into account the lovely scenic location. Customer restroom facilities and decent sized car park, plenty of indoor & outdoor seating, various boat trips can be booked and taken from here, friendly & helpful staff and carvery meals too! Occasional live music events are also good with a great atmosphere. Brilliant and highly recommended.

Came with a few couple of other bikers for a late breakfast, lovely to sit by the water after a long ride down and chill out. Breakfast was all tasty including nice door stop bread and a drink included in the price. Friendly staff 👍🏻

Popped in here after we finished a very long dog walk of 15km. We parked in the free car park along the road to start, and walked along canal path to Saul junction about 1hr15. After lunch walked back. We stopped here for an ice cream. There was a live band when we arrived, it was very busy outside under the coveted areas, so sat inside. Person came over with a dog treat for our dog, which was very nice. Seemed a lovely place, I imagine it gets very busy at weekends, and during the week.

Great little popular cafe alongside the canal. Indoor outdoor covered and uncovered seating. Great lunches and snacks well cooked and presented. Can get busy with walkers cyclists and visitors but don't be put off. A great stop.

So much has been written about this "The Black Shed" that it was lovely to see it in real! Supposedly a grain shed initially, then used by the government in the 1915 to 1917 as a munitions storage shed/hut and now a café/bar/come shop for all the boaters, walkers and everyone it seems. I believe that The Black Shed is now a "listed" building as well. A very pretty picturesque area with the Patch Swing Bridge to allow cars over the bridge and/or boaters passing through on the Gloucester and Sharpness canal... Lots of wildlife and nature around to entertain families and children... We had a lovely portion of chips, a small bottle of Australian Chardonnay and I had a pint of the Shed Head, an American pale ale but Shed Head is Swedish...confused, well so am I! Anyways, it was a great pint of ale indeed. Finally, the staff were friendly, welcoming and cheerful and apparently they do fantastic food and known for their English Breakfasts too.. Definitely worth a visit!

Nice big place tasty food and location can't fault. 3 hour max parking with adding car reg to order point inside cafe. Don't park here if thinking off paddleboarding as safety issue in such a small car park.

Actually serve ploughman's! I had the small mixed one..ham and cheeses... for £7.50..friend with me had ham egg and chips for £10...both tasty and filling. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was peaceful, watching the narrow boats pass through the swing Bridge. Good access with seating inside and outside . Close to Slimbridge wetland reserve.
