What a fabulous place for a retreat! A wonderful old building packed with character, beautiful gardens and such a peaceful setting. When the gong is sounded to call you in to the dining room you know you're about to sit down to a delicious meal! The food is great, home cooking at its best and plenty of it! The bedrooms are simple but clean and comfortable.

Great morning out at Parcevall Gardens visited at the start of May and all the flowers were in bloom. The cafe is really nice and ee had a raspberry sorbet. Highly recommended. However, there is no entry into the hall as it is a diocese retreat and £9 per person is as steep as the walk up the hill to the hall

Absolutely delightful and extensive gardens in a quiet and peaceful setting on the edge of the moors. Mature trees, planted over 100 years ago provide shelter for a surprisingly wide selection of plants grouped into many different garden types. The gardens are laid out over the hillside and are not easily accessible for those with mobility aids. A slow steady climb through the lower woods brings you to a small tarn and waterfall and then past the orchard to the more formal gardens. Floral borders lead on to the garden terraces in front of the main house which is used as a retreat for the local diocese. A delightful setting for reflection and contemplation. Above the house, the gardens continue with a rose garden and rockery using the natural limestone(?) bedrock. The gardens are approached by a narrow country lane and the car park has room for about 30 cars. Google asks me to comment on the rest rooms. I didn't notice anywhere to rest, but there are toilets near the house and also at the entrance to the garden. Also an excellent cafe with wonderful local cakes! Highly recommended for garden lovers.

Wonderful gem of a garden full of surprises. Glorious weather and few visitors helped a great deal with time and space to sit in sunshine at various points to take it in. Highly recommend the guide with map and mini biography of Sir William Miller both modestly priced. Glorious views of Simon's Seat and surrounding countryside and the enhanced and natural limestone creation a definite highlight.

What a little gem! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. The gardens are beautiful and the signposted walks provide a lovely little stroll. The views out over the dale from the top of the formal gardens are stunning, whilst the rock garden is a great place to spend a bit of time relaxing, listening to the running water! Staff were very friendly and the food at the tea room was lovely, although very expensive - especially considering how good value for money the entry fee is.
