Called in for lunch. I had the gammon with a cooked pineapple accompaniment, egg, salad and chips. My husband had the fish and chips with peas.
Both meals were delicious. The staff were really helpful, everywhere was clean.
I can highly recommend this pub.
Weekend in Skipton with 5 friends. Nice, old friendly pub. Served the best Sunday lunch we've had in a long time. Go for the pork, it was delicious. Lovely crunchy veg and creamy mash with great roasties.
Wow! This place is amazing. The service is incredible, the Sunday Dinner is the best I’ve ever tasted (everything is cooked fresh) and the atmosphere is like merry old England. The only criticism is that it’s difficult to get a table and that’s due to just how good this place is - it’s more of a compliment than a criticism. If you’re in the area and looking for exceptional pub food and extremely warm welcome, this is the place!
we really like this Pub. often stop in on our way through Skipton. the food is really good and the Timothy Taylor beer is top notch. the feel of the pub is really nice too. the restaurant is normally booked when we stop in but we are always told we can sit anywhere in the pub and just have to order at the bar instead of table service which is absolutely fine
Very nice pub with a real old school feel. One room with a lovely roaring fire and then some outdoor areas and a restaurant. Good pub food, some nice choices and good flavours. The Sunday roast was really nice. Tasty well cooked meat and lovely Yorkshire.
Went here for some food after a day out at Janet’s Foss. All the staff were very welcoming and polite and me and my family including the four dogs really enjoyed the beer garden in the back. The food was excellent, three clean plates and the dogs loved the pork fritters. If we are ever back in the area we know where we are going and that’s back here. Keep up the good work.
Visited Skipton for the day and we were looking to get something to eat. We came across The Wooly Sheep, and so glad we did. There were 4 of us and we hadn’t booked. The restaurant was full but got told by the very friendly staff we could eat in the bar area. The food was superb. It was all excellent but the stand out dish was the Bar Steak. Cooked to perfection and tasty as hell 😋. Will definitely return when next in Skipton
What a great place. Traditional oldy world pub with good food and great ale. I scored 4 for room for its size but it is an old building. The room was recently refurbished. The staff are really friendly.
Visited for lunch on a shopping trip. It looked inviting from the outside so went in. We chose to sit in the resteraunt area and asked if we would like a drink whilst deciding what to eat. Menu was varied with high quality pub food. We had a stacked burger and ale pie with sides all of which arrived quickly and hot. Our server was Kaitlyn and was attentive polite and did not stop smiling all the time we were there. In fact all staff were happy in their work which made it a very nice lunchtime.
Highly recommend this as a place to visit and will be going again soon
Stopped for lunch after exploring Skipton. Friendly helpful staff, comfortable seating and plenty of choice on the menu. Excellent range of Timothy Taylors beer available on tap. Could easily have stayed longer!! Definitely worth a visit.
