Fantastic meal here.
Stayed in Skipton and we made an on the spot decision to go in and try this place on Sunday evening.
We were greeted by friendly people who took us to a table and had no hesitation in letting us know that they would do their very best to help us have the meal of our choice, as we were able to change any meal to our liking.
Needles to say all 4 of us really enjoyed our meals. We would definitely recommend that you try this place and you won't be disappointed .
Place itself needs a face-lift in my opinion but dont let that put you off as the two mains we had were simply delicious certainly up there with the best we have had including top end Indian restaurants, service was friendly and attentive, a must if you like a quality curry.
Sunday night takeaway on holiday nearby sheek kebab starter 👌 chicken Pathia main beautiful flavours Taka Dall best ever onion pilau perfect keema nan also very nicely made, ready on time and staff welcoming also very reasonably priced definitely recommend ( going back tonight)
Really delicious dinner tonight! Friendly fast service in a very clean and beautiful establishment
They opened up 1hr earlier for us when we knocked which was lovely as it was freezing cold outside and we were passing through Skipton on our way back to London having been out and about sightseeing around Yorkshire all day. That was really nice of them.
Their attention to us was lovely, the meal was very cheap in comparison to our favourite Indian dish near Canterbury - almost half the price actually. Their northern hospitality was really nice.
The food was good but not excellent. The Indian we love is so flavoursome that the guy is catering our wedding and with his meals not only do you add nothing to it but you drink water just so you don’t miss out on any of the taste and flavour. With this meal we had to add salt, chutney, lemon etc to finally achieve the rich flavour we wanted. I would have liked to see more flavour going into the meals. Having said that, the tandoori lamb in my Makhani has that 10/10 rich flavour I was looking for. And despite having been cooked in the tandoor, it was tender enough not to be chewed for long and was very nice to eat. The king prawns in the king prawn puri were smaller than we are used to for king prawns and there could have been one or two more. That dish also needed chutney and lemon and salt to complete the flavour, but was nice. The lamb in the Makhani was a lot, they didn’t do that sparingly and that was nice. The puri and chapati were both made from whole meal flour and were quite dry. The chapati was very dry and hardened quickly and I’m not sure why. We prefer soft normal flour chapati.
All in all - 7/10 and if we are ever in the area we’d go back and ask for more flavour and non wholemeal chapati.
Recommended.
Would highly recommend this restaurant - the food was delicious and the service and atmosphere warm and welcoming. Good value for money.
I have eaten at other restaurants in Skipton, although they have good standards, Mastabs has better standards. One of the best things about this restaurant is the customer service. The owner served us and his personality matches the business. Staff were always checking up on us and always made conversation.
Food was delicious and served very quickly. One of our main was even a special creation of haddock by the chef just for us so a lovely touch.
Will certainly be going back again. Thanks guys
Lovely evening for my brothers 40th staff were lovely, food fantastic and reasonable prices too. Def go again!!
We had the chicken cha and prawn starter and it was just.perfect
Wife went for the lamd tandoori teeka
I had the lamd chicken house special taj mahal and it was amazing 100% we will return next time we are over this way
Popped in as the smell outside was enticing us in, managed to get a table without booking but was early on Saturday evening when the first opened.
Food took a while but they were also busy with takeaway collections.
When it arrived, it was definitely worth the wait, very well presented and tasty.
All 3 of us managed to eat for £11 a head Inc a drink, very good value.
It was my second time eating Indian food. The food was great and the staff were very friendly. Thank you!
My wife and I had yet another exceptional evening here. The food is definitely the best Indian in Skipton.
For so many years, Aagrah has been considered the best in Skipton, but compared to recent visits, I wouldn't consider ever going anywhere else apart to Mastabs.
Not only is the choice of Menu extensive, but it is extremely good value, surprisingly inexpensive, comfortable, pleasant & professional staff. A definite first in my mind for any visitor, local or tourist, looking to enjoy Indian cuisine in Skipton.
I can say this without fear of contradiction this Indian restaurant is the best in Britain!
Food was superb; cooked to perfection and there was loads of it.
Service was first class, very attentive, very friendly, very professional.
No hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone.. I'll drive the 250+miles from home just to make sure the wife samples the food here 5 🌟
Good meal served by friendly, helpful staff.
One of the best Indian restaurants I have ever eaten in. The food was totally delicious. The two front of house guys were great. Helpful, very pleasant and attentive without being overly so. A must for our next visit.
We used to live near Skipton and always came here for a great curry. We've since moved a few times, but always return when we're in the area and always receive a more than friendly welcome from the proprietor who is so welcoming and friendly, can recommend enough - outstanding food and fabulous hospitality. We even visited (more than once) with our young son, and they had absolutely no problem accommodating his food preferences.. (pizza!)
Love this place.
