The purpose of my visit was not to dine it was to sing & play my piano for an Italian evening. On my arrival I was greeted with a genuine warm welcome from everyone, the management, the bar staff & the waiting staff. I have been fortunate enough to entertain at some of the most prestigious Italian restaurants in the world and the food I saw (and envied the aroma of) would have come close to equalling any one of them so given that this is not an Italian restaurant 'per say' the chefs did a sterling job of re-creating a 'cucina e mangiare cibo'. The establishment is in a beautiful rural setting and the décor has been cleverly thought out to give the interior the atmosphere an unpretentious country eatery should have. Lastly the clientele were extremely friendly and delightfully appreciative, all in all for me it was a great & memorable night. Joel David.

Lovely atmosphere, large menu and great service. Meal deals are good value. Online reservations are easy and fast. Could do with more beer options but otherwise is great.

We had the lunchtime special . I had the chicken liver pate and my husband had the makerel pate. For mains we had the steak and gammon. Excellent food quality served beautifully. Good attentive staff. Can't fault it for £10. 00 per person. In fact I have paid three times this for an inferior meal at other eateries. We will definitely be returning with our friends. Thank you.

Fantastic meal and very much worth the money - in fact, I would have paid more for what I had. The only reason why it lost a star was that the place always could and I couldn't take my coat off. The waitress did close all doors so the draft stopped but the overall place was on the chilly side. I'd go back again though with more layers on!

Passing the star inn yesterday about 3.30pm & we thought let's pop in & have an early tea. We were told they only begin serving food again at 5pm. So we thanked them & left. We got called back by the manager who informed us there was a chef available who was prepared to cook. All the staff were so kind & helpful, the food was fantastic, could not fault it in any way. Beautiful. Thank you so much mr manager /chef

Stopped when passing on route home. On a Saturday 5.30. Staff very friendly. Pub nice and cosy. Food lovely. Especially the baileys and Mars cheesecake that happened to be the special on the night. Couldn't fault it at all.

Quite comfortable, the food is very good, served hot and generous portions. Staff very amiable and appear to respect their customers. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to all and everyone.

Always a good meal enjoyed here in cosy restaurant although the bar area just as good. Service prompt and very friendly. Cutlery could do with updating (i.e. knives capable of cutting meat) but everything else is clean and smart. Menu reasonably varied with usual favourites and good value. Decent Sunday roast.

Nice country pub but geared more towards food than casual drinks. But does have a good selection of beers and lagers to go with your food. Has a good sized car park .

Family friendly pub, good food, welcoming, lovely service, waitresses and bar staff are great. My friends love the Star Inn and travel to enjoy the vegetarian burger (the best I'm told and she is rather fussy) also my fish chip's and pea's best mate says "I like the food there so we'll go back". Personally I try the chicken menu, and love it, my only complaint is that I get a stick of a particular herb that I hate. Note to management.

I took my fiancée for food and we both enjoyed ourselves. It has a very cozy feel to the place, the staff were polite and friendly. The food was really nice and it wasn't expensive. I would recommend going and will return myself.

Visited here in mid/late October with my lovely woman, after a less than satisfactory experience at a nearby rival restaurant/pub. Some odd seating arrangements and interesting choice of decor but it wasn't a huge issue (me not being the fussy type of course). The service was good mostly and the food was decent. We opted for the 2 course Sunday Special. The Cod Loin Fillet wasn't something I would normally go for in a restaurant, but it worked well with the vegetables, sauce and everything else. The local ale I opted for accompanied the meal well. My partner was happy with her peppercorn chicken with roast potatoes and then to follow that she particularly enjoyed her "amazing scrummy ummy umptious" dessert, Eton Mess. I had a fruity/berry meringue (not actually what I asked for but never mind), which was good, though maybe a bit rich for my liking in the end with the copious amount of cream in it. A slight issue with the price of the meal was rectified when the cost of our desserts was taken off the bill. This was a really nice gesture. All in all a good place. We will return soon to sample more of what they have to offer.
