Excellent food. The burger I had was wonderful. My mother had the Brie wellington, perfect, with beautifully cooked, crisp and flavoursome vegetables. The beer is also top quality. Would happily recommend to anyone.

Just had a superb meal. I had a burger and Chris had the steak. Everything tasted amazing and the apple pie is probably the best apple pie I’ve ever eaten. Extremely reason for the quality too!

I've eaten at The Volley quite a few times since Matt & Lindsay reopened the site, and the food has always been excellent. Tonight we tried their new take away concept, and it was absolutely amazing! Ribs, Pulled Pork, Corn on the Cob, Coleslaw, Gravy, and a special mention to the best Corn Bread I've ever tasted, for 2 people for £16. Incredible quality for the price. Thanks guys.

What a fabulous opening for a reboot of a favourite local. A great refurbishment without spoiling, brightening the place up, sorting the doors between bar & lounge and blocking off the 'unusual' connecting door between the gents & bar. Very busy for the relaunch and the staff coped admirably. I shall be making more frequent visits! Congratulations to you all!

Beautifully cooked food, with fantastic attention to the flavour combinations and seasoning. This is now our favourite eatery regardless of distance from door to door! The value is incredible. The menu isn't massive but this helps keeps prices in the very reasonable bracket, especially so considering the quality. The choices are inspired and change regularly. Well done Matt & Lynds, wishing you every future success.

Had a lovely lunch at the Volley yesterday, sat in the beautiful relaxing garden in the sun. I asked for a meal that could help me following my Slimming world plan and they made me an amazing Tuna Salad, My friends and family ordered Volley Burgers and Hot Pork Sarnies And they loved them. If they can do it they will is what they said to me. Will deffo be eating there again

Staying just up the road at Avalon, booked in and can honestly say we’ve had the best meal here that we have ever had. Seriously wish we had found this place earlier in our holiday. Both had 12 hr brisket on a bed of bubble and squeak (and I dont even like bubble and squeak!) was bloody fantastic! Took our old staffie tom, he was welcomed warmly and soon relaxed in front of the log fire. Will definitely be back before we go home! Seriously though, need the recipe for that gravy.......

This place has changed so much recently and massively for the better. Great bar team that are knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. The menu is the biggest change - its amazing. Definitely not the usual pub grub fare. Outside space is lovely too. Highly recommended

We visited back in May this year and looked forward to visiting again. We were not disappointed. The menu is varied and very interesting for a pub and changes every week. We visited three times in a week on this stay in Sidmouth. We even walked down the hill in the rain on our last night so as not to miss this weeks delights. Follow The Volley on FB for the new menus published every Tue or Wednesday. Apart from the food, the other main thing to share is about the great staff. They have a natural ability to make you feel at home and you are treated like a regular customer throughout. They all have personality. Big thanks to them all.

Superb food. Menu changes each week. Friendly staff. Remember to book ahead. Although away from town centre, it has a top reputation so always busy.

Superb experience at the Volunteer Inn. The quality is astounding and is not your simple pub grub. A real credit to Matt, Lyndsay and the team. If you are in the Sidmouth area, it is a must visit for food & drink.

This is the best pub in Sidmouth. Friendly welcoming staff, good quality, freshly cooked food. Small selection of local beers with the occasional guest beer. It's popular and busy with a great atmosphere, book a table if you want to eat.

Had an extensive refit recently and now the beer garden has had the same treatment. All really nice and good beer too. Didn't eat there but the menu looks good and there's a wood fired pizza oven in the garden.

Wish this was my local and they knew my name and my drop of poison. But I am sure they will soon. Staff so attentive and meals are well prepared. Interaction between staff members for service is efficient. That's why it's pretty packed most evenings and days. Book early if you have a big party but even if you don't they will try their best to get yiu in, seated, fed and suitably watered.

We visited with a group of 7 and a baby and they were incredibly accomodating and helpful. The food was excellent and very generous portions. We enjoyed it so much we returned the next day and were treated to the same wonderful service and food the next day. Would definitely recommend and will be going back whenever I am in Sidmouth.

I've eaten here on numerous occasions and enjoyed the live music at several folk festivals. It's a superbly run pub, serves amazing food and I can't think of anything negative about this superb pub.
