The best chippie in the town. Fish batter as light as a feather, chips well cooked, great, friendly service. The owner prides himself on using rapeseed oil as opposed to saturated fat used by other establishments, which makes the food lighter and tastier. Not on my side of town but worth driving past the opposition to get there.

Well worth the ten minutes' walk from Shrewsbury Town's ground. I had one of their specials, the 'Pie Box', which was good value, well-cooked and plentiful. Oh, and Bristol Rovers won 2-0 so, Happy Days!

Quick service at a fair price! The food was freshly cooked to order, piping hot and absolutely delicious! Me and my mum stopped here on our way home from shrewsbury, and will definitely be visiting again! Also, those cheese and onion pasties are to die for!

The food in the main was very nice. The standard is usually pretty high as we’ve used them before. My daughter was very disappointed to find that her sausage had not been included in the bag with the rest of the food and and the one fish was very batter heavy. The staff are very friendly and it won’t stop me going back but it is a little annoying.

**** UPDATE… after the manager contacting me straight away last week, offering a free meal and him personally cooking (the lad last week is still training) we went back tonight and the food was beautiful. We will be back again! Well…. Wasted £16 on fish that was batter. The 2 large fish probably had less fish in than a fish from Aldi and the small fish had about as much fish as my thumb. Disappointing when you’re only treat night is a Friday and it’s ended up being batter. The chips were okay and the sausage (because it wasn’t in batter)

Having recently moved to the area from near Whitby, who are renowned for their F&C, I was a little dubious about what to expect. Tonight was my second visit to the Fish Bar and both have been brilliant. The fish is cooked perfectly with a light, none greasy batter and the chips were hot and crispy. 5⭐️

Yay! Gluten free fish and chips. They didn't even have the separate vat on, but they fired it up just for me. And made zero fuss about it! Thanks so much, guys!

The first fish and chip experience since the beginning of COVID, and coincidentally, on the return journey of my wife and myself from our 8pm 5th COVID vaccinations. We live 2.6 miles from the Shrewsbury Fish Bar, and there were 10 other chip shops to choose from on our way home. Online research led us to choose this particular outlet. The website was very encouraging despite some negative comments about the small fish size which failed to point out that at that time all chip shops were in a similar position due to the quality of available supplies. The photos suggested a very clean establishment but couldn't do justice to the actual experience. As the phrase goes "eat off the floor" - in this case not a health issue. The floor was immaculate, as were all the walls and appliances. Our order was for haddock and we had to wait for them to be cooked (as is usual in every other chip shops). Within that waiting period I was very impressed to see that the very, very friendly staff were constantly wiping down surfaces and cleaning utensils. Because of the waiting time I was offered the choice of remaining in the shop or having my order brought out to the car, (I am 74 years old), but chose to stay in the shop. It was a pleasure to do so and see how an efficient, pleasant and happy owner and staff worked well together. As to the order for fish and chips. Wow. Huge fish and likewise the "small chips" order. Impressive was the explanation why the order was being double wrapped and then double bagged because of the length of time it would take for me to drive home. The quality and taste of everything was exceptional and not only do you have 2 extremely satisfied human customers but also a very contented cat. Whilst waiting I noticed commendations placed in an area most people would probably not stand in and so be unaware of them. Several years worth of commendations for quality etc. My view is that in only awarding 5 stars I am not doing them justice. They obviously care about their customers getting an all round quality of care and overall satisfaction. Finally: My review is based on my experiences throughout England, Scotland and Wales both in a working and holiday capacity.

We're pretty spoilt for fish and chip shops in Shrewsbury and they're all pretty decent too but Shrewsbury fish bar is our favourite. The food is delicious and very well cooked and the portions are huge too - would recommend a visit.

The best fish in Shrewsbury. The only place we'll go for fish and chips now. Perfectly cooked. Well worth the wait when the queue is down the road.
