Had a beer with a few friends in the beer garden on a Saturday afternoon and it was very busy. Good atmosphere. Good selection of drinks from draught beers/ciders through to a decent selection of spirits. Pricing is what you would expect of a good pub like this near to town. Worth a visit if near to the Abbey.

Under new management this past year or more, the place, the food and the atmosphere all make it worth a visit. With a homely lounge bar, beer garden and sports bar. Street parking and a large car park nearby, proximity to the River, The Abbey church, the English Bridge and other places of interest. Walking distance from the town and close to supermarkets and a cinema. This pub has everything including a very friendly landlord. Highly recommended.

Great place. Lovely atmosphere especially with a small band playing folk music. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Lovely to see some canines being very well behaved too. 2nd visit not so good unfortunately. Different staff to last night. Didn't have the same service and the same atmosphere. Meal not enjoyable either.

Fabulous pub. Really enjoyed the hunters' chicken, huge portion, and very tasty. I can honestly say the gents loos were the nicest and most pleasant smelling ones I have ever used.

What!? Β£20 a head including drinks!!! 6 of us ate here. 1 course each, at least one drink each, and a few puddings / coffees. The food was all great.Personally had the steak & Guinness pie of the day, with veg & mash, which was really good). Service was genuine, friendly and chilled. All the dishes came out together. Facilities were clean and tidy. Atmosphere was that of a perfectly relaxed pub. πŸ‘πŸ˜

Good food and quick service, plenty of places to sit as once live music starts you can struggle to hear.

Refurbished last year and well worth a visit, great beers and a well laid out beer patio to drink them in, which also doubles as a spot to watch the match. Happy, helpful staff and somewhere me and my friends will be returning to
