Stumbled upon this quaint and beautifuly preserved pub while on a trip to the area. We didn’t eat but had fabulously friendly service from the bar maid. I was given the opportunity to try a fabulous gin after great advice from the bar maid, violet gin! Awesome. The pub felt like we had stepped back In time in a great way. My husband was impressed with the real ale choices. We will highly recommend and definitely visit again when we are next in the area. Thank you for great hospitality
Staff was friendly, and the food was delicious. My partner and I had Gammon steak, egg & chips and neither of us was left wanting.
If you have a day out around Shrewsbury we would recommend visiting this pub full of character! 👍🏻
Always good to find a good pub on a first visit to a place. Very good range of gin and beer!
Great little pub. Firstime in about 50yrs. Very clean. Good service. Toilets the best we have been in. Didn't have time to eat. As going to theatre. But looking at what came out of the kitchen and looking at the menu very impressed.
Great pub steeped in history. Cracking ales and a fabulous selection of gins and whiskey. Very friendly and helpful staff 👍
Lovely Sunday carvery well worth a try nice friendly old fashioned pub glad we gave it a try and will definitely go again
Lovely friendly pub. Great atmosphere, great roast beef dinner!
Great little pub full of character & atmosphere with friendly staff , so glad it’s reopened ...
A really good traditional tavern full of good old fashioned pub atmosphere and history. This is also the pub where a wall painting of the last supper from the 1500s was discovered. Definitely worth a visit for a relaxing rest and drink.
Great pub, stopped off for a few drinks.
A tad below average price for a drink, better pub than some in Shrewsbury
Great night young couple who manage the pub were very capable, really polite and thr place was spotless. Don't normally like doormen, but the lads on the door were really polite, friendly and spoke to people with respect. We will be back.
This is a great pub, young couple running it very nice people, in there Friday night had a great time will definitely be going in again when we are uptown
Brilliant place..proper pub..great beer.. excellently cooked menu.. friendly professional staff.. highly recommend this place..
Been here multiple times great food ,great staff and the wall is very cool. Also the owner is a gamer who is the best at gaming. VERY RECOMEND!!!!
Called in for a few pints yesterday whilst visiting Shrewsbury. Katie the landlady is fabulous, very friendly and a real diamond. The mural discovered during the renovation is spectacular- dating back to medieval times. A must if you are visiting Shrewsbury
Fantastic pub with fabulous family working there.
Food is terrific, particularly Sunday roasts!
Great find in Shrewsbury
Came off the main road to find food to avoid motorway fare and found this lovely pub. Good atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. The roast dinner was good, although I would have preferred non-frozen veg but at that price you can't complain.
Full of history, including a mediaeval wall painting
Excellent friendly pub ... Great beer.. brilliant secret beer garden 🙂👍👍
Lovely little old pub my partner and I visited recently. Staff were lovely and felt really welcome
A fabulous pub. Well kept traditional ales, beautiful old pub near the river. Great staff. Casey the barman is my new best mate after telling me about, and walking me through, Moretti’s FREE BEER offer. What a pub!
Sunday lunch was hit and miss. Beef good veg and roasts a bit dated. The pub wasn't busy so veg was kept warm too long. Not really their fault. Very tasty though.
Very friendly staff Made a fuss of the dog!
Really lovely Sunday roast but get there early to enjoy the full range of desertsn😀
Great pub, good atmosphere. Very well run by Kate who works very hard and takes no nonsense, visited 3 times on our birthday visit from Wigan. We will definitely return on our next visit. 3 good cask beers on.
Was ok but suffered from the flood pub was ok but got in cellar
I went in early because the place was empty. I wanted to read a book for half an hour with a draft beer undisturbed. But as people wandered in the atmosphere developed into the most convivial evening I've ever spent in a pub. Ended up chatting, laughing, singing and playing guitar with at least four or five groups of strangers. And left after midnight. Thanks to Kate behind the bar for this all inclusive fun atmosphere.
