Lovely pub/ restaurant with character. We stopped here by chance on the half way point of a trip and were glad we did. We arrived just before food was being served but were welcomed and seated quickly. We were greeted by another member of staff who was very friendly and offered us even more choice of food from their bar menu. She was very welcoming and helpful. Our meals were delicious and decent portions for the Β£10.50 a head we paid each. We sat in the dining section but the main bar had had multiple tvs for sport and a good selection of drinks. There is a car park behind the pub but we didn't realise until we left, however there is a huge car park about 5 mins down the road near the abbey

Booked a table for 4 of us and although the menu was relatively basic. We all throughly enjoyed our meal. I had the rump steak and my OH had the fillet. It was cooked perfectly and very tasty πŸ˜‹ πŸ˜‹ nice sized portions The waitresses were very friendly and helpful πŸ™‚ There is a car park at the back of the pub and we thought there should of been a light outside, as it was very dark getting to the car's. Also when we had finished our main meals, there was no offer of desserts. Which was a shame at the end of a meal. Otherwise would definitely recommend πŸ‘Œ

Classic pub food. Evening meal with the family was excellent. If you haven't eaten here you should. We'll definitely be back .

We visited this pub 7 years ago, and I had the best fillet steak of my life that day. We returned this evening, and whilst maybe not the same lofty standard as that day - it's still a mighty fine steak! The quality of the meat is extraordinary considering the price charged.

Great pub. Great food. Great service. Lovely atmosphere. Book in advance, and the tables are out the back in a lovely area near the kitchen. The service was lovely, very attentive fun and informative from the young woman who is also a second chef. The menu is varied and very tasty with great prices. The service is quick, and we never felt we were waiting. Meal for four, three courses, with drinks Β£105. We felt it was great value. Definitely recommend.

A nice cosy pub on a main road in Abbey Forgate. It is a good place to sit outside and relax with a drink. Have never eaten here but the meals look very appetising and well presented.

This is very much a locals pub, which is nice to find. When we arrived we were told we had a few mins to order as they stopped serving at 2.30. Not a problem but seemed like it might annoy the kitchen, so we were made to feel a bit bad. Other than that the staff were lovely and the gent that came with our food was super friendly. The food is good, solid, home cooked, traditional pub grub. Not the stuff of chain pubs, I'm talking 90s pub grub. And it's excellent. Really hit the spot on a miserable, rainy, freezing day. It was very cold in the pub and we sat in our scarves. I don't think the heating was on and the fires weren't lit. Normally I'd moan, but to be frank I do not begrudge a business owner being a bit stingy on heating these days. I'll go again and wear more layers, and continue to support a local.

Regularly have meals at The Dun Cow, good quality well priced food, enjoy the odd Friday night band too. A gem of a pub that's unspoilt.

Main meal was superb. Fillet steak , lasagne and a 16 oz steak . Really was very nice and cooked beautifully. Would of given 5 stars but the puddings were a let down. Rhubarb crumble was completely tasteless . Like there was no sugar in either the crumble or the rhubarb . Syrup sponge was not hot inside . However we will definitely be back , the mains were delicious. ( just won't have a pudding )
