Modern bar, with a large screen, a couple of ales available, good bench seating, with an upstairs seating area too.
Really lovely place, great selection of drinks & we enjoyed a tasty pie for lunch
Excellent drinks, really tasty food, great service, and the perfect atmosphere. Have I mentioned the really delicious drinks? You really must try the Singapore Sling, wowza!
Lovely little spot. Very friendly staff and gorgeous cocktails.
Great beer selection. Great town pub with no pretentions
Very dog friendly establishment and there's always a nice welcome from the owner Harry, the manager and all of the staff. There's a great choice of wine, and they regularly have new beer on tap which is great. The staff pop round the tables to see whether you want any more drinks rather than you having to always go to the bar, altbough there is never a long wait at the bar anyway. The atmosphere here is always happy and relaxed, and everyone always seems to be having loads of fun. I don't think we'll ever tire of coming to the house of grain.
Meeting place for thr Mikkeller Running Chapter. Welcoming staff, great beer. Dog friendly. Would recommend
Great selection of keg ales on tap and the food looked good. It’s a really nice place to drink with stripped back decor and booth seating.
Would like to see a couple more cask ales and/or beers from local breweries.
Great bar excellent beer selection. Friendly staff and good music
Industrial layout, with an excellent selection of cask, keg, can and bottle. Only a flying visit, hope to spend more time soon
Recommended by our daughter, we thought we'd give it a go for lunch in mid-January whilst in Shrewsbury for the day. On entry there was no-one else there. The first beer asked for had run out. The stars began to disappear. We sat at a table where we could watch the world go by. The attendant asked if I'd like to try another two beers. I agreed and chose the palest. It was citrusy and properly cloudy - 4.5% one pint would be enough. My wife had a very acceptable Malbec. Without being asked we were brought a bottle of tap water; another plus.
Menus arrived and we chose.
Breadcrumbed oyster mushrooms.
Breaded fish goujons in tacos and a Halloumi wrap with fries. All food was freshly cooked and really delicious.
The musak being played was a selection of Rap music. As we were the only people in the restaurant we asked if it could be changed. The attendant agreed and changed it to a more jazz/rock genre. The stars were back.
The bill - 25% off for January; what a bonus!!
Beer was £5.40 a pint, Malbec £4 a small glass.
The restaurant is very close to the English Bridge.
Highly recommended!
Nice choice of ales and a great spot for watching the world go by. Would definitely go back!
Good selection of draught craft beer. Food was excellent
Absolutely smashing bar to visit after a walk in the Quarry park! Cheery staff and a great range of beers including zero alcohol options if you prefer.
Fabulous little bar, very friendly staff, great selection of beers. Recommend the shin beef hash cakes.
Very impressed by the management skills of Jodie. She really catered for all our needs and is a credit to The House Of Grain. Highly recommend to anyone looking for Real/Craft ale and pizza in the Shrewsbury area
It's the time we have popped by this establishment today and i have to say that its great! The food was the nicest we've tasted for a long time. I had the Flat bread and chicken and couscous and my hubby had steak sandwich, it was so nice! Nice clean tables and toilets! Would easily recommend :)
