Used to be a hotel and still keeps some of that aura about it. Nice solid tables and chairs, plenty of seating if all sizes. Didn't eat was there for the reggae festival, DJ was playing some good tunes, enough to make us stop and pop in for a quick drink. Service was good didn't wait long to be served. Nice clean toilets
Superlatives don’t do it justice. We love the ‘Shoe’… There are one or 2 places not far away which I’d say are over-rated… Particularly for food. Not this place - it is an absolute gem. I’d go for the Skate every time but I’ve never had a bad meal.
Great drinks, great staff, great atmosphere and if you hit it right, a great selection of entertainment including music, comedy & quiz! Lucky to call it our local…
Fabulous pub with great staff. We had a fantastic late Sunday lunch - can highly recommend the roast baguette. We will be back!

Would like to thank the team for all their efforts. They closed the pub in respect of the loss of our beloved Chris Irwin. They offered a private function for friends and family only, and it was so very special. Thank you so much for your kindness.
Always excellent service. Good ales and a very good Sunday roast. A really comfortable place to eat with a menu that's much better than your usual pub.
We went for a Sunday lunch, not disappointed, more food than we could eat, restaurant is quite small so I would recommend booking.
Surprisingly good food... decent vegan options available. I had the mushroom wellington with mash and fresh greens and gravy. Yum!
Didn't stay only drinks and Food but was 1st class ,exellent customer service. The food was to a very high standard.
Its a pub with very nice meal options. Beer good.
Decent pub, good selection of beers on draught and plenty of outdoor seating. 4/5 due to some confusion with the drinks order with one bartender (in fairness I think his English may have been a little hazy on some things, which is cool) but seemed to walk off mid serve leaving it to the other bartender.
But still: good beer, COLD beer and nice venue. It's a thumbs up and would visit again
Great menu choice and the quality of the food is just fabulous. 10 out of 10 for presentation, we'll be back next week before the world finds out about this hidden gem, definitely Shoeburyness's best kept secret thank you for a great experience.
Stephan and Tomas were excellent hosts, and helped out when booking a table from another country.
Good choice on the menu and the roast was well cooked, served with modern flaire, and tasted great.
Combination of vegetables and sides were lovely if a little alternative.
Parking was difficult given the weather and folks being at the beach nearby.
When we sat outside this hotel pub we really didn't have high expectations. We were amazed by the menu we were given, and still sceptical of what this food would actually be like... but wow - it was absolutely incredible! The chef is clearly very passionate and brought the food out himself. An absolute gem.

Had a wonderful Xmas meal with my friends the staff went out of there way to accommodate myself as I am vegan and they cooked me a special meal cause I also have a seed and nut allergy the singer was also amazing everyone enjoyed them selves would definitely recommend this place well done xx👏
