So, a lot of well established and expert wine merchants can get stuffy, boring and snobby, not the guys at Sheldon's. Every time I go in the team are warm and friendly even tho I am one of the rare Riesling and Rosé fans in this world they will always endeavour to listen, help and inform. Great place to get decent wine and spirits.
Time reveals everything for sure, what a lovely gem to find. Oh so friendly owners. Amazing selection of wines in many formats. Selection of chilled whites and beers as well.look forward to visiting again. Thank you kindly for the opener as well.
Fantastic place with great wines collection in the cellar and shop above
Very friendly and helpful people work there. I recommend it to anyone who plans to visit or stop by in Shipston-on-Stour.
I attended a wine tour here a few months ago. It was so well run; everyone was made to feel included. There was a festive atmosphere, also thanks to their wonderful decorations in the cellar. I came out with way more knowledge than I expected and a little bit tipsier, as expected!
One of my favourite local stops. Every single time I have come in over the years, the staff will always come over to offer their expertise or just for a friendly chat. The selection is superb and if you're hosting for an occasion....you have got to venture into the cellar. This place is a gem!
What a wonderful place for wine lovers. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the building is interesting and the cellar ...it must be seen to be fully appreciated. Even if you don't want to buy, have a look.
A recommendation from the Cotswold Distillery when they didn't have something I needed.
I'm so glad they recommended Sheldon's. An amazing place with a huge range of wines, some spectacular dry vermouths (the item I was looking for) and lots more besides.
The staff/owners were great. Very helpful, knowledgeable and interesting.
I must have driven past Sheldon's hundreds of times but now I'll be stopping far more often.
Knowledgeable staff and very friendly. What I like is the new innovation of the tasting machine which allows you to try out a whole range of wines before you buy. You can then take it next door for your meal at el cafe (subject to corkage). They have a better range of french wines than many places these days. I bought some wine which they had bought in from a private collector which was good value for money. Well worth a browse.
A tour voucher given to us by our daughter. After some time having to rebook through our own fault went along 29th of October. If you're looking for a taste of many wines then this is not the 'tour' for you. However what this was is a very interesting look around an old established business where you learn about the history of the place, and many things about wine making over the centuries. The wines, not chosen by the speaker that were tasted were varied, (5) and very much depends on your own preferences. I would have liked to have 'tasted' some of the more expensive options to see whether I am missing something by paying no more than £12. I would have gladly given an additional contribution. I would recommend a visit.
Nice wine shop, staff always helpful. Been in a few times to pick up a bottle or two and always been happy with our purchases. Some local beers and ciders too.
