We received a warm welcome from Lucy who directed us to our very clean and comfortable room. There was plenty of hot water, a chocolate topped the clean linen and towels. We booked for an evening meal following a very good selection of drinks in the bar. The menu was excellent and we would recommend the food without any reservations. Delicious, well presented and home made. The room was not particularly noisy even above the public bars and a good night's sleep was had after the customers departed. Breakfast was very tasty and the full English was well prepared and presented. The staff were busy but super attentive and very helpful. We are already looking forward to another visit but for longer next time. There is so much beautiful countryside to see around the area. It was a lovely relaxing weekend break.
Excellent home cooked food! Lovely service, will definitely go again and so reasonable! Thank you, the white bear!
Utterly awesome visit; a great staff who knew their way around beer and are very funny and relaxed; awesome food (which helped as the beer was very good); wonderful atmosphere and was an allround great place to spend a few hours in.
Utterly recommend this little gem.
Really enjoyed the excellent good value well presented 'home' prepared food in restaurant.
Very lively bar area made for a lot of noise which at times was a bit much.
Had a nice spacious, en-suite, room with a comfy bed. Very convenient location in the centre of Shipston-On-Stour. A nice cooked breakfast in the morning. Landlady very friendly and a credit to the business.
Everyone here was amazing. Nowhere near just 5 star, we were quite simply looked after fantastically well. Tables moved to better fit what was needed, polite, welcoming brilliant. However, there are 'only' 5 stars to give.
The food was lovely, even helped with a request and quickly rectified something. Very quirky building which just reflects its age.
A big test is: will we return?
Oh YES!!!
Lovely inn, and great pub. In the pub, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food and drinks. The room we stayed was super comfy, decoration was cute, everything was clean, and we were welcomed with two small chocolates over the bed - it was such a nice detail. Great place to stay! Side note: it's a pub, so on Friday music was out loud by 11pm - which was really ok.
I had a lovely stay at the White Bear. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The rooms are dated but just as you would expect from an old building, however the roof was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and we had a great meal in the bar in the evening. No complaints from me and I look forward to staying there again in the future. Thank you 😊
Met up with old friends and just looked for a place to have some food and drinks and a long chat. Happened upon the White Bear Inn, and although we had to wait for the kitchen to be ready, we had a lovely time chatting. Food was way beyond our expectations, especially for my friends who were vegetarians. I had the creamy chicken pie which was really good and was a sizeable portion. Really friendly people running the place and service was good. Pricing was reasonable and portions were good. Everyone was happy with the quality of the food. Highly recommended.
Popped in doe lunch on our way to Diddly Squat Farm and Southampton.
Food was very good, massive portion of fish and chips, chicken burgers made with chicken breast.
Very well priced.
Only downside was one highchair.
Would recommend.
Staff were very nice, location is great and they have the football on. Pub has a good atmosphere and closes before midnight, so no loud noises keeping you awake. Breakfast was also very good (special mention to Angie).
Emma was a wonderful hostess. Couldn't do enough. Just the rooms need refreshing. The property is old. Rooms nice and bright but a little tired. A little noisy in the evenings but it's above a pub so to be expected. Food very good. Some of the best we had in the area. Good for a short overnight stop off or just to have a meal.
Had a splendid stay at the White Bear. We were well looked after by friendly staff. It's an old building and in need of a bit of care in places but we had such a lovely time that it didn't matter. The food in the restaurant was lovely and home made with lots of vegetables. The breakfast was a hearty full English with good tea and coffee. We will be back.
Very warm and friendly service great staff and nice clean beds and a good breakfast highly recommended 👌 thank you 😊
What a find! Passed through Shipston a million times and never stopped at the White Bear. We will from now on - Its friendly, warm with great food and with a staff that are welcoming and helpful. On a Sunday lunchtime it was busy and the place buzzed. True the pub needs a little tidying in places but thats all - its a warm honest 'old fashioned pub' Support it!

We only ate here, but the service was excellent, as was the food.
We have a nervous dog with us, and the staff did all they could to help out and make her feel settled.
The staff and the atmosphere was amazing. They made you feel right at home! Food was very tasty too and the breakfast kept us full all day!
Highly recommend The White Bear Inn, i am definitely booking with them again when i make a return visit. The location absolutely gorgeous too. If i could give 10 stars i would!
