To average 4.8 on Google is extremely difficult. These guys well deserve it. A proper traditional fish shop of the highest consistent quality. It is clear this place is not run for the benefits of high profits, but for the pride of supplying the very best skilled cooking of fish and chips. There are
REAL chips !
One of the few non-commercialised chippies left - they know how to fry the perfect portion...
Very reasonable prices - typical Scottish fairness !
Also I may never find out why these generous folk from the far North (!) gave me TWO pieces of cod - 1 slightly more cooked than the other,
Great fish and chips. Don't be put off by the decor or outside appearance. This is proper old school fish and chips, some of the best you will find away from the coast and always first stop on a trip to Sherborne!
Sorry no photos but the cod and chips are amazing one of the best places I have been to in a long time.
Friendly staff cash only maybe a problem for same apart from that I will go again on my next trip.
Hands down the best chippy going. Not a massive fish and chip fan usually but these guys serve up a delicious chippy dinner
in a world of commercialism nice to see this long standing fish and chip shop continue to thrive , quality continues to impress , everything cooked to order , with a smile and some banter ,no limp steamed fish here, my first port of call when thinking of take away .top marks
The Abbey Friar is the best chippy for miles. Hosted by the magnificent Steven and Martin. 508 days to go according to the app lads. 😀
The best fish and chips I've ever had! That's coming from a Sussex coast girl..
Best fish and chips for miles. Great two guys, very friendly.
Bought fish and chips from here and they were some of the best we have had.
