Reviews Holly Bush

Stopped here with my partner and 8 month old boy after taking the nature trail walk at Rivelin Valley. I loved that there was a split between the pub and eating area as this allowed people to eat in peace and other locals to then watch the football and drink beer in peace, this was a great touch. The decor of the restaurant goes expertly well with the surroundings, it gives off a traditional country pub feel without being old fashioned, something that is extremely hard to do. The playlist was brilliant, something that often goes unnoticed and something i've never picked up on at a pub before but the music was pleasant. It was a blustery afternoon so it was great to retreat to the warmth of the Hollybush with it's coal fire and great cider. The food was fantastic; opting for the gourmet burger, homemade chips and onion rings. There wasn't much of a wait time and the quality was great. You could tell it was all homemade and freshly prepared. The staff are fantastic and i'll definitely be returning here in the near future. Thanks for making us feel welcome!

Stumbled across this pub while in the area, and what a little hidden gem! Dog friendly (massive tick), a warm welcome from the staff upon entry and excellent service. The food is menu is enough to please most and very fairly priced! Good quality meals as well. Definitely recommended to anyone wanting a cosy welcoming place for a drink and a bite to eat

This place is amazing, proper pub food and not a single frozen chip to be seen. All food is homemade, and tastes” just like mother used to make β€œ. A friendly warm welcome awaits and prices that still leaves you with enough to get the bus home.

Proper locals' pub and I don't mean that in a bad way. Good beer, cheerful service and it was lively when we popped in Sunday afternoon. Very cheap too. Almost like pubs used to be!

Had a tasty sunday carvery, which was good value for money. Not busy at all either, so easy to get food served quickly :) They had two ales on draft (Farmers Blonde and Spitfire), both of which are good I would say, as well as more mainstream beers.

A few of us had some drinks to commemorate the one year passing of my father Fred Baker, ( who lived on Hollins Lane & always went for a meal on Tuesday dinnertimes ), on July 8th, 2021, it was a good afternoon & made better by the lovely, friendly staff. Again on the 31st of July, 2021, the day of his funeral a year before. Me & a friend made our respects known & had a few drinks & a truly decent meal, very good & simple food. I fully recommend this Pub !!!, their are lots of happy memories & indeed had Fred's Wake their on July 8th, 2020 & my Mothers in 2005, 40 Years of good tidings with my father & other's !! A place to try !! Thankyou to those who new him & my Mother, they are always sadly missed by me & all !!.
