We stayed in the Penthouse suite and what a treat it was. It consists of a living room, bedroom and bathroom. We were greeted by a bottle of Persecco on ice In the living room (along with coffee machine and snacks), the bedroom is large and has a small walk in wardrobe. The bathroom is huge with Jacuzzi size bath, walk in shower, toilet and a chair. The hotel itself was lovely and very accommodating, happily making gluten free food for my wife. We would highly recommend the suite for a special occasion or if you just wanted a treat.

Loved it from start to finish, excellent staff, service, room, food and spa facilities. The staff at the champagne bar were especially attentive and friendly. Will definately be going back there.

Thank you from the Robinson’s!! We Had to change our wedding last year to a different venue and was blown away by the Mercure. Laura and her team did everything they could to make us feel at ease and went the extra mile to make our day special. It was the best day ever and ran so smoothly! 100% recommend this place for your wedding!

Sat outside and had a beer on the terrace. Nice and relaxing with great friendly service. Only minus point was not easy to find the door to get to the bar inside.

We love this hotel. Married here 10 years ago and nothing was too much trouble on the day. That ethos is still true now as the staff make this place worth every penny. It is a joy and real pleasure to stay in and we will be back again!

Had a training day here. The room had no window onto the outside world, was dimly lit and had a crazy pattern carpet. One of the chairs I sat in was faulty and I nearly went over backwards. The coffee provided was perhaps the weakest I have ever tasted. The entrance hall is very nice open and airy; I could happily sit there for hours. Staff very polite and helpful. Gents needs new hand dryer machines. Location is good for central Sheffield but bad for parking.

Very good, simple check in the room was large and comfortable & the mattress great to sleep on. It was quiet and the temperature was easily regulated as well as the room being very clean. The room was a tad spartan -everything was well maintained but it did feel like it would be due a refurb/ upgrade in the next year or so. The spa is a bit of a disappointment - I used to be a member and it wasn't as well run or maintained as it was. The spa staff were perfunctory. The hotel staff we very friendly and helpful especially in the restaurant. The breakfast was nice but again a little spartan compared to similar places I've stayed- Leonardo Hotels for example.

We have just had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff could not have been any friendlier & polite. Our room on the first floor was very clean & had tea, coffee, milk & a mini fridge wahoo. We’d taken snacks for a midnight munch so that was fabulous & appreciated after our night out. Today we had the most amazing breakfast….there was so much choice from pastries to cereal to a cooked breakfast. We deliberately didn’t go until 9:30 to fill up & then spent the afternoon relaxing in the amazing spa. We did pay a bit extra for a late checkout but that has been worth it to make the most of the spa facilities. We did have to try a few places who could accommodate us for an evening meal last night … well worth booking beforehand. Fabulous stay & we shall definitely return.

I cannot comment on the rooms as I only used the bar/restaurant area and the meeting rooms. Nice hotel staff were friendly especially the lady who was bringing in tea and coffee throughout the day. Great location in the heart of Sheffield city centre. The conference rooms were clean and modern, great WiFi, pens pads water cakes and biscuits were all supplied. Great place to hold a conference or meeting.

A really good hotel that couldn’t be in a better location, slap bang in the middle of Sheffield. Rooms are spacious, shower is really good - it’s just a shame that the beds are rather small despite a huge room, and the mattresses not that comfy. Also, the toilet water pressure must be the weakest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s like the pulse of a 95 year old, a gust from a hand fan would do more. Breakfast is really good and the gym facilities are surprisingly really good for a hotel gym! The punch bag is really good! Staff couldn’t be more friendly or helpful, they’re the real stars of the show.

I went to use the toilet but as I walked in through the entrance I saw crack marks on the floor , which was a bad hazard due to in case a young child walked in and tripped and hurts a part on its body … which I do like about it that it’s very clean staff are very friendly when I ask to use the bathroom they said yes ! Of course so I would be careful when walking in the building by the entrance… anyways I would recommend staying here ….

We attended a wedding here but did not stay. After many hours of dancing and throwing shapes my wife's feet were feeling sore. I asked Robin at the front desk if they had any slippers. He looked in the back but couldn't find any. He took it upon himself to go up to the 6th floor and find a pair and my wife was so grateful. Robin is fantastic!!!!!!

I was impressed- it was my first time in a Mercure hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly and I had a lovely room. I had dinner in the bar which was excellent food. I would use this hotel again.

My room was great. It was warm, with a comfy bed, a bath and a fridge, which came in very handy. The TV didn't work when I was arrived, but it was replaced the following day and I was offered a complimentary breakfast (thank you, Robin). I ended up having to extend my stay by one night and Scott and Kath on reception, were very helpful with this. The only downsides were the length of time I had to wait whenever I wanted to speak to someone at reception (my wait to check in was particularly lengthy), and one particularly hostile receptionist who couldn't crack a smile. As a solo traveller (who also works in customer service), this was a big deal. Overall though, a good experience.

My best friend got married this weekend and the wedding party (including the family of the bride) stayed at the Mercure. There was an error made by the reservation team which resulted in some of the party having been double booked due to a miscommunication from the booking team to the bridal party. Revati was incredibly helpful and managed to resolve the issue - she listened patiently to the situation and took immediate action to prevent the weekends celebrations being railroaded by the issue! We were so grateful for her kindness and professionalism in a situation that could have really tarnished the most special day. She is an absolute credit to the hotel and the staff who worked the wedding were all lovely. Thank you again Revati :)

Location is good. The hotel looks good and pretty. Staff are helpful and cheerful. However, we booked for a family of 3 but only 1 complimentary bottle of water available in the room and not even a basic biscuit. These are little things you appreciate even of you stay in a bed and breakfast more so with a big hotel chain like this. Sauna was out of order on a weekend. Good thing we didn't book solely for spa use as I will be really disappointed. The pool water was cold as well. All in all stay our stay was good. We had a beautiful view of the winter garden and city. Very good breakfast with plenty of choices. It just somehow didn't meet my expection.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the team at the Mercure. Our Christmas 3 course meal was absolutely lovely and we all really enjoyed it. The food was great and the 2 guys behind the bar were spot on! Emily was always very kind and helpful when sorting this booking, which made it a lot easier and stress-free! I would come back in the future
