We only popped in, we weren't overnight guests, but this is a lovely little pub that really is the heart of the local community in this rural area. There are lots of walks around, and beautiful views across the nearby reservoirs. Still close enough for a drive into Sheffield centre, Meadowhall or further into the Peak District if you want.
The wasailing (Carol singing) is very traditional and of a high standard too. It's lovely to hear, and some of the carols are very old and individual to the area... interesting!
Had a fab one night stay here. Friendly landlords with a warm welcome, spotlessly clean room and lovely countryside surrounds down towards the lake. Breakfast was delicious. Thank you!
Amazing pub. We went in after a long, cold walk and were greeted by pints and the most delicious pies.
Brilliant place....the Landlord is a very nice fellow, great drinks and stunning location with great view, even have binoculars so you can enjoy your drinks and look at the veiw.
Lovely country pub, with home cooked pies to die for, nice atmosphere, and lovely welcoming landlord with a great Whisky selection. We'll be back when we're back this way. Cheers.
We stayed just the one night. The rooms are located to the side of the car park at the rear of the pub, which was great, as we could park our bike right outside, which made loading/unloading really easy.
The rooms are a little dated but comfortable, practical and clean, and we slept really well.
We had an evening meal and can confirm that the pies are excellent and the breakfast was just as good.
Everyone we met, staff and locals, were so friendly, it made our stay that much better.
We look forward to staying again in the future.
Stayed for a night for a wedding just down the road. Room was small but comfy and clean. All you need including toiletries are provided and stunning views for you to gaze over. The bar has a few nice beers for you to enjoy. The owners will go out of there way to help you. Including giving us a lift to and from the venue. Good breakfast was had. All in all a perfect stay and will certainly recommend for anyone looking to stay in the area.
Second visit and a great stopover base. Friendly pub, evening meals, 3 real ales, good breakfast - what else do you need? Rooms are clean and well stocked with tea / coffee/ biscuits for emergencies. Great power shower and top quality toiletries. Evening meals are basic pub grub, but tasty and excellent value. Owners just go the extra mile.
Stayed over in our motorhome for a couple of nights in our motorhome. We enjoyed a few drinks on Sunday when they don't serve meals. On back holiday Monday we met with friends and enjoy a proper pub meal that was all homemade food. The prices were very reasonable, the food very satisfying and the welcome excellent. We will see you when we are next in the area. Thank you
It was a beautiful pub but no longer with us
