Coal Grill - processed meat reheated. I visited the Coal grill in Sheffield with my family, we waited nearly an hour for our food with no apology. My chicken panini was a few pieces of soggy processed chicken in a gooey sauce. My sons sausages were reheated so much even I couldn't cut them. I complained via email and they rang me then sent me a 'spend £20 get £10 off' voucher as way of an apology!!! Like I'm going to pay to go back. Service was fine but everything else a disaster I'm afraid.

A regular customer at Coal in Meadowhall - consistently great food and efficient service! I try and vary my food choice but usually opt for the Coal Burger! It's massive and delicious! I'm always full after it but never turn down the desserts there have on offer. Highly recommended.

It is excellent.. Whilst at meadowhall today i had a wander around the oasis looking for somewhere that looked comfortable and had a varied menu. i opted for the 6oz Rump with chips, pepper corn sauce and a side of herby mash extra. The rioja wine was exellent. The food (good portion sizes) came quickly and it was very well presented (chips in a small steel bucket - cute) and hot, the flavours were simply delicious. creme brulee dessert topped off a first class visit, i will recommend this place to anyone, its family friendly, great for ladies that do lunch, and business meetings as well. i cannot over sell this place. Keep up the good work everyone.

Would not go back. As the title says I would not go back again... It took over an hour for our food to arrive and then my girlfriend's steak was medium when she asked for Very Well Done!!! As expected we sent it back only to be told that it was cooked properly (Let's face it it HAS to be cooked prperly otherwise Health & Safety would be notified) but a well done steak mean NO BLOOD and it had blood so was not as ordered. <br/><br/>I had the Chicken Schnitzel and admittedly the chicken was nice and tender BUT there was skin on the sauce from where it had been left under the hot-lamp too long and it had been burnt. Admittedly we got that refunded...<br/><br/>Whilst waiting for our "food" to arrive we overheard a member of staff clearly complaining about what a customer had said about the food.<br/><br/>Our waitress Mandy, was an absolute darling and deserves to work in a better place.<br/><br/>Like I said I will not be returning to ths restaurant again!

A surprise! (updated). Let's face it - I'm in Yorkshire. SOUTH Yorkshire. Midway between Rotherham and Sheffield. In a mall. What right do I have to expect decent food here?<br/><br/>It turns out, every right. Coal turned out to be a surprising find hidden away in Meadowhall shopping centre. Freshly cooked food, an open kitchen (nothing to hide) and pleasant staff. I could complain that the calamari was overcooked or that the prices are probably a little high for the location (but the lunch menu is a bargain!), but that would be being picky. I'd take my girlfriend here for an evening meal, and that's really saying something. Fix the squid and even the location would fade into insignificance. I'll see you again, Coal Bar and Grill!<br/><br/>Update<br/><br/>And see you again I did. Not such a great story this time though. Again it was a lunch menu, though this time there were two separate lunch menus, one of which was photocopied in black and white. Nice, and very professional looking I don't think.<br/><br/>I had chicken quesadillas to start and banger's and mash for main. The starter was genuinely really nice. Looked great and tasted lovely. The main was a different story.<br/><br/>As I cut through my sausages and watery gravy I scooped some of the (cheese and herb) mash onto my fork and thrust it into my mouth. To my surprise the mash was not just stone cold but a little icy. How can they miss that?!<br/><br/>I sent it back and it came back much hotter (actually now too hot given that my partner had almost finished eating!) and I continued to eat but the sausages just weren't nice and I didn't finish. Later I felt indigestion and discomfort, which is unusual. The sausages just didn't agree with me.<br/><br/>The service was also a bit lazy although it was still nice to have tap water with ice and lemon for free. A nice touch.<br/><br/>After my second visit I am now verging on the don't-go-back, which is a shame after my first visit went so well.

I HEART COAL!!!. I celebrated my one year anniversary with my boyfriend here ad absolutely loved it!! My Boyfriend always tries to get me to go to steak grills but they rarely have alternatives that i enjoy! Coal, howver, had a HUGE variety of food!!! From pasta, pizza to fajitas and salad! I was spoilt for choice! I had the chicken schnitzel in the end which was cooked to perfection, whilst my bf was incredibly content with his tasty steak! Well Done Coal - We will be back!! :-D

Shocking experience. Sent all food back as it was cold and very poorly cooked. The manager didnt charge and apologised profusely but the experience was enough to put me off ever going back again

Exactly what it says..... The food was everything you'd expect good quality and quantity, service comes to the table with a smile, unlike most places in meadow hall you get your food hot too
