Had a lovely Christmas dinner here. Warm environment, food very nice and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Would recommend to anyone xx
Good food and friendly staff music was just enough to be able to listen to and have a conversation at the same time well done to the York will be back again.
What a great pub with recognised and obscure beers on tap. Nice & friendly. Not sure about the background tunes but can live with that.
Fabulous meals and service this afternoon. Probably best pie ever !! Great beer
Lovely meal for a late Father's Day.
Good food as always and friendly staff
Be back again soon x
Fantastic, great food, great service, great selection of beer !!! Highly recommended
A lovely local pub - definitely more autumnal in character. Friendly staff.
Beautiful food, amazing selection of drinks (especially if your a gin lover like me ). Amazing atmosphere and brilliant staff. Thank you and so glad your our new local pub
Best burger I've had in a long time and my family said their pies were delicious too!
Recommend the cocktails in a smart pub, especially the brandy and champagne !
Came here with a group of friends for a meal and drinks. Booked a table for food when we arrived and they said it was going to be an hour, so we stood at the bar and had a few pints. The atmosphere was excellent, although standing room only it was so busy. That shows how popular it is. Asked about our table after about 30 minutes and they said it was ready - didn't seem to have had anyone sat at it the whole time we were waiting so not sure why they said the earliest they could fit us in for food was an hour. I ordered a burger, which was excellent and the staff seemed friendly and engaged in conversation, which adds to the experience. We were allowed to stay at the table after the food and enjoyed a few more drinks and there was plenty of space for a few more chairs when other friends arrived.
Brilliant food and brilliant service. Happy and welcoming atmosphere.
Delicious food and great value. Would recommend local lamb burgers.
This is one of my most favourite pubs in Sheffield. Friendly staff and good drinks. We came in for a Sunday roast dinner and it was one of the best roasts I’ve had in a while! The apple and rhubarb crumble was also delicious.
Came here for Sunday lunch today with my pooch. It was quite quiet on arrival, but soon became very busy. Met at the bar by a friendly staff member who showed me to a free table, handed me the menu and took my drinks order. Great range of both cask and keg beers, I chose the Cryo craft beer, which was delicious. Waiting staff were attentive and friendly not just to me but to other diners around me too. The bar/restaurant had a great atmosphere and the great teamwork of staff was evident. I gave my order of Calamari followed by the Roast pork dinner and I also ordered a side of Cauliflower cheese. The starter arrived promptly with a sweet balsamic glazed salad and a flavoured mayonnaise. I decent portion of delicately coated and fried calamari was a great start. Not long after followed a huge portion of Roast pork, crackling, Yorkshire pudding stuffing, roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, braised leeks and delightfully spiced red cabbage. Needless to say, I didn't really need the delicious side of Cauliflower cheese, but It would have been rude not to eat it! The generous portion of pork was too much for even me, so a certain pooch gleefully chomped on a deliciously tender slice, in addition to some Yorkshire pud!
All in all a lovely experience and will definitely be back soon!
Dropped in for a bit of Sunday lunch. Was steadily busy but seemed to have lots of seats free.
Ordered from a set menu 2 courses for £20, or 3 for £25.
Friend is a gluten free vegetarian and they were able to accommodate with their menu.
Food was tasty, beef was nice but was covering the veg below, like the tats, leeks and broccoli.
The food comes with gravy already poured over it, this also meant the waiter had his thumb in my gravy when it was delivered. Not the waiters fault, but it should be served in a jug as standard.
Toddler had a mini roast, the beef there tasted garlicky which ours didnt. i was jealous!

The kitchen did offer us a free brownie, i think as they had overstock, which was lovely and a nice gesture and capped off a lovely afternoon.
Staff were friendly and interacted with our toddler nicely.
Only marked down as the plating/gravy could have been better. Perhaps offering to put in a jug as a standard.
This is a nice light pub with a sunny beer garden to the rear. I was impressed as they also made a great alternative milk decaf cappuccino, which is rare for a pub. In a nice village called Broomhill - which is also popular with university students. Staff friendly & helpful.

Worth another visit!
We, a family of three, went there for lunch on a Saturday. Arrived just after 1200, it was very quiet. It was busy went we left.
The food was good, portions decent. Perhaps a bit pricey. £45 for lunch plus drinks.
The house burger was very tasty and well cooked, the fries very good, the bacon needed to be either trimmed better or cooked more to melt the fat. The fish and chips went down well too, fish being fantastic, chips ok. Children menu has decent options.
One of my favourite local pubs and always serving great food - try the Pie Sunday Dinners! A very impressive range of local ales and lagers, with the guest beer changing regularly so you can try someone new! My recommendation is the Sheffield Pilsner… very easy drinking (too easy in fact!). Quiz is a good laugh and gets pretty busy especially when the students are in town. Make sure you book for food… especially on a Sunday as gets very busy.
Had a family meal for 8 on Sunday. Selection of roast meals. All served hot well presented. Food was very good and tasty. Friendly staff. Welcoming and nice atmosphere. Would re commend.
I love this pub, lucky to have it as a local. Always going to give it 5 stars as nowhere in the vicinity comes close to the ambience here.
However I was a bit disappointed by the beer and food on last visit. Less impressive range of local beers and my dinner was a small portion of burger and fries. I don't have a big appetite and I was hungry when I got home. It was like a small childs portion of fries.
Had a society Christmas meal, with about 100 people, and food and service was great! Decorations were really festive and made for some really good pictures. Christmas package was a great deal and would definitely recommend!
Nice and cozy pub, with nice atmosphere. Friendly staff and nice beer garden in the back.
Good place for family meals such as Sunday lunches. Not overly sophisticated but staff were helpful and friendly. Food was good quality and nicely cooked. The restaurant is popular so you ideally need to book ahead at busy times of the week.
Definitely not like it used to be 'back in the day' but still a good pub. About to be taken over by a new brewery. So hopefully will remain a stalwart of broomhill.
The decor in the York is clean but fits well, lots of dark woods. The drink selection is great including a range of hand pulls, with a decent few saltaire brewery beers at the time of posting. Food selection is good and the quality was very good, surprisingly so for the cost. 2 courses and 2 drinks for just about £40. Worth a visit, a hidden gem in Sheffield!
One of my all time favourite pubs in Sheffield. Wonderful atmosphere, amazing food (such good pie 🤤), and incredibly welcoming to all.
Perfect mid week date night. The menu was full of treats not things you could cook at home. The atmosphere is nice and private, you dont feel like you are on top of each other. Great variety of drinks. Lovely staff.
Wonderful food, friendly staff and a good selection of beers. One of my favourites
