We went there chiefly because of the food - Make No Bones closed and their team moved to become the in-house caterers at Church. Makes total sense. They get a new state of the art kitchen and much bigger space in a cool part of town (not that Meersbrook isn't cool) and can concentrate on what they do best, which is making amazing vegan food! All underwritten by Oli Sykes' millions. Ace!
The food was sublime, and we tried about half the menu! The beers were a fine selection, a little on the pricey side for out of town but hey ho (and they charge for soda water which nowhere else does).
The bar itself is an interesting space, all dark colours and with interesting mosaics and a spectacular ceiling mural.
Staff were dead friendly and chilled.
There was a match on - England v Sweden and though it was pretty busy and boisterous there were no twats, so a good place to watch the footy without wanting to murder people.
I'm told that it already gets very busy on a night so if you go for the food it's probably best to go during the day.
There's a full programme of stuff for Tramlines - not my kind of stuff but I'm hopeful they'll get some gigs on because it's a decent size and could potentially fill that gap between the smaller/DIY venues and the medium/larger places, like Leeds' Brudenell has done until recently.
There's also a riverside terrace which i haven't seen, apparently.
Will be going back very soon!
The Church is a great place. The minute you walk in you're trying to take it all in - the mosaics, pictures on the ceiling, the confessional, and many more. Nice, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Amazing food. Really worth a visit.
Came along during the day for the MNB food, and gave my muscle memory a spin on "House of the dead" while my food was being cooked!
Kid friendly, dog friendly with a great atmosphere. Good service, great range of drinks, amazing food. I doubted a place like this could exist! A real gem for Sheffield.
An absolutely fucking awesome addition to Sheffield and sure to be one of my favourite hangouts! Love the fact that you have Make No Bones on board, definitely some of the best vegan food in Sheffield! The black burger was incredible! Great atmosphere, great staff, great decor and vibes. 10/10 can't wait to come back again.
Loved everything about the place... the food from Make no Bones amazing as always. The bar, the staff - all amazing. Best place weāve been in years. Highly recommended
we went for the first time yesterdasy, the space is amazing, old school video games, very friendly enthusiastic staff. We ate at Make No Bones whcih was a big supprise to us as we have never eaten vegan food before.
All in all a great experience, one we will be repeating regularly....
Went there yesterday and it was fantastic, as someone who does eat meat, I was a bit apprehensive about eating here but the menu looked like it accommodated to what I liked. Good range of drinks and i must say that the DD burger is absolutely fantastic! Deffinetly telling my friends and will certainly be visiting again very soon! Keep up the good work.
Been here twice now with friends and tried pretty much everything on the menu between us š
the food is gorgeous and the staff are friendly! Will definitely be coming here again. Only downside is you wonāt be able to move after inevitably eating too much food š
Always an amazing atmosphere and thereās so much to do in one space, they have everything and even though Iām not vegan, the vegan food and drinks are insane, always make sure we go there when weāre in Sheffield.
Major 90ās nostalgia playing the original Simpsons arcade game here. Really unique place, definitely worth a visit.
Absolutely outstanding! Amazing place, the food is crazy delicious and awesome decor. Only thing I can say is please bring back the poutine! Amazing!ļæ½ 100000000% coming back again!

Perfect place for vegans and others (y). Nice staff and delicious food.
Sweet beer selection, good vegan food and awesome video games. Breath of fresh air.
My friend and I drove 134 miles to dine here and we were not disappointed! The decor is a feast for the eyes, the service is top notch and the food is AMAZING!!! You'd never know you were eating vegan. I will not hesitate to drive up here again and again.
Absolutely loved our evening here. The staff were so amazing and the food was incredible. The best vegan food I've had so far!! So much fun and a lovely atmosphere and just beautiful inside š the stained glass and the decor is just breathtaking. Will definitely be returning as soon as we can!
First timers and very happy we made the effort to visit. Large spacious building. Brilliant service. Incredible food (if you didnāt tell me, I wouldnāt have known it was vegan).
Really unique vibe throughout. Loved the menu / bible and the gaming hide outs!
Couldnāt recommend this place more. Looking forward to returning!
Went to the official bmth after party for their Sheffield show, was a great atmosphere, staff were lovely, good music. š¤Even got to meet the legend Ian Sykes himself š¤š»
Have recently visited again to give the food agoā¦ although Iām not vegan this menu definitely could change my mind, almost certain this was the nicest food Iāve had in a whilešAlso gave the photo booth a go and itās a lovely little memento for the trip!
I had visited Sheffield for the first time with my partner for her sister's birthday and they had told me about how good church was and that we had to go there for food.
From the moment we arrived the staff were lovely and constantly making sure we were being seen to. The food is all vegan but you wouldn't be able to tell as it was all so delicious and packed with flavour.
Myself and my girlfriend both got the New York melt burger and her sister and friends went for the syko. Every one of us upgraded our fries to the chilli cheese loaded waffle fries and if you ever come here I suggest you do just that! The burger was delicious with fresh toppings and I couldn't get enough of the waffle fries loaded with chilli, cheese sauce, salsa and more! The onion rings also need a mention with the seasoning in the batter still making my mouth water thinking about them.
Over all this place is what vegan restaurants should be aiming to be like. I myself am not vegan but would happily eat here multiple times a week if I could. If you get the chance make sure to give the place a try!
Food is 100% vegan, edgy cutlery, cool menus, lots to look at, and God is definitely watching. Amazing customer service, answers all questions, and are friendly. Tasty food, happy boyfriend!
The food was amazing, and drinks were fairly priced. The Meat your maker burger was way better than real beef alternatives, and the Bang Bang Cauliflower was to die for! Portions of food and alcohol % in drinks were really generous too. The decor was beautiful in every corner, and the lighting made it super immersive āļø
Such a lovely place! The atmosphere and decor are so cool and cosy, I had a blast here! The food is very good, the staff is so nice and very comprehensive about disability and accessibility, would definitely recommend!!
First time visiting. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food arrived very quickly and tasted great. The only thing I'd say was the food was slightly cold, however this did not affect the overall experience. Would recommend.
Food pictured, the Ma-Doner, Mac and Cheese side and Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream
This is a place where even if you aren't local you HAVE to try. First and foremost the elephant in the room this is a FULLY Vegan food and drink menu but you would not know it if you walked in and tried it without that knowledge. If this is what all vegan food tasted like I would have no problem switching diet because it is incredible. People often write off vegan options because it has a stigma attached to it but as a hearty meat eater I could not tell a difference.
I went for the Ma Doner Kebab, my friend had the Syko Burger and we shared a plate of Nachos topped with Chilli, Guac, salsa and cheese. And what I ate I can say with confidence was the best Kebab and Nachos I've ever had. So much flavour was packed into the food that every bite had us raving to each other about how surprised we were and how much we enjoyed it. By the time we left my stomach was full to the absolute brim.
We also had the mango cider and tried some of their signature cocktails which were delicious and did not skimp on the alcohol, delicious and refreshing and highly recommended if you visit.
Our servers were so friendly and kind that it pained me the card reader wasnt allowing us to add a generous tip on the day because they earned it and then some and dealt with us with great care. I will absolutely be going back though and with cash to make sure that's not the case next time.
So if you have doubts about vegan food, want to go for dinner somewhere unique and beautiful, or are simply big fans of alternative culture and music please please please consider Church Temple of Fun for your next meal.
