Visited twice this week having never been before - once for lunch and once for dinner. Sat outside on both occasions and the view is fabulous. The lunchtime specials menu was great - two for £10. I had the chicken club which was seriously delicious - lovely thick bread with chicken fillet and bacon. Service was fast and very friendly. The dinner experience was a little different as they were super busy so the wait for food was about an hour but they advised us of this on arrival. I had steak and chips and it was cooked to perfection, exactly as I’d asked for it. I will definitely be visiting again. The staff were all friendly and helpful, great experience, thank you Three Merry Lads!

Fantastic pub, yes it gets really busy when the sun is shining but the staff do all they can to keep service running smoothly, which they do with a smile! Awesome food, amazing gin balloons and cocktails and a fantastic space for the kids to play whilst we're soaking up the stunning views. Highly recommend visiting this establishment!

Superb mixed grill, probably one of the best I’ve had (and I’ve had a few!) accompanied by one of the nicest pints of Moonshine I’ve experienced in a long time. Really recommend this pub, it’s certainly One to try out if you want a welcoming atmosphere, good food, and a great cellar.

Always wanted to try this pub and was not disappointed. Only had a drink or 2 and didn’t eat but meals looked very good. Warm and inviting pub and bigger inside than it looks. Would love to visit again in summer as decking at back had stunning views- can’t wait to visit again- lovely pub 🍺

It's under new management and is looking very lovely. It's been decorated and looks so cosy and Christmassy. We had an adult meal and a childs meal. The food was fresh and delicious. Will be returning 👍🏻

We ended up here because our preferred jaunt, the Sportsman, was closed on Monday lunchtime. The pub benefits from friendly staff though they did feel somewhat impatient as we dawdled over an impressively wide selection of food. They had one local beer on tap and several indie ciders to choose from, as well as an impressive selection of cordials to try. Although there was a wide ranging food menu, there were surprisingly few vegetarian options and none at all in the 2 meals for £11 range. The vegetarian lasagne was reasonable but pricey for what it was. The hunter's chicken came with an ungenerous portion of chips and was billed as coming with salad or roast vegetables. As it was, there was no choice and it came with peas and an unadventurous salad which included a lot of raw onion. Onion rings were meant to come too and eventually turned up with another order, below. The same could be said of the salmon salad which was similar, again with lots of raw onion, though the salmon felt fresh and reasonably sized. The best of the lot was asparagus and poached eggs from the starter menu, which along with a portion of onion rings made a good main. The pub itself is spacious, with a nice selection of books to browse and games to play. Outside is a great children's playground and lovely views. There's lots of parking and even a drinks vending machine for those who arrive when the pub is shut. We are unlikely to go back, largely because Sheffield offers a lot of choice of pubs, but it was good to visit this one.

We stopped by because we were hungry, but we were served much better meals than we had expected. Delicious traditional English fare, as well as a few non-English menu items, excellent choice of UK beers, a great outdoor seating area and a marvelous view. We enjoyed the experience but were unable to purchase the amazing looking desserts because the kitchen closed before we could order them.

After a day of hiking at 28°C, I decided to reward myself with a swim in the lake, a meal and a cold shandy. The Three Merry Lads was the closest pub, so I decided to go for it, as didn't want to travel any further away. I did not pay attention to many details, as totally exhausted, but the service was impeccable. Once I asked if they could do vegan pizza for me, I had a straight yes as an answer, even if there was no vegan pizza on the menu. Pizza arrived within a few minutes and have to admit that ordering it, was one of the best ideas that day. The pizza was delicious, thin and crunchy. I was very surprised by how the cheese melted and how tasty it was. The lovely girls were checking on me from time to time asking if everything was fine or if I needed something else. They were lovely. I sat outside, as wanted to absorb even more fresh air and get dry after my dip in the lake. The view from the outside area was beautiful, straight onto some hills. The car park was big enough to fit many cars. I did not use the facilities, so hard to say anything about the cleanness.

Went here for tea when in Sheffield for a long weekend. Chose it mainly because it was dog friendly and we have a dog. Turned out really nice. Amazing subtle log fire smell, spacious, welcoming and the food was great! Home made fish cakes with home made chips!

Fantastic views, a lot of the menu had sold out for Sunday lunch and we were there at 12.00 and had already press booked. They said they had a busy day Saturday and sold out of stuff. So why take a pre order. Totally pointless

I nipped here for a family dinner recently having last visited over 10 years ago.. not much has changed but there are a good couple of Lagers on draught and the menu is simple but was tasty and more than adequate when it arrived. The sun was out but it was pretty windy so as much as the outdoor terrace looked inviting I quickly retreated inside! A decent family pub if you want to nip for something to eat and not spend much. Would visit again if it was part of an invitation from friends but probably wouldn’t be my first choice of S10 pubs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Excellent choice for dog owners, campers - and vegetarians Actually, we were just looking for a place to stay for the night with our Campervan, because campsite receptions in Great Britain close early – a bit difficult for late risers. On Google we read that the Three Merry Lads offers overnight stays in the parking lot. The reviews and menu sounded promising, so for the first time ever we visited an english pub. In the end, we hadn't just dinner there, but also breakfast the next morning and we stayed for another night - including dinner. The pub is located on the north-eastern edge of the Peak District National Park and was an excellent base for excursions. Some nice walking paths lead directly from the garden of the pub through the forest - perfect for dog owners. The dog-friendliness was almost overwhelming: At the entrance a sign announced that dogs are welcome, water bowls were also offered there. Inside our two collies were pampered with treats and lots of attention and cuddles. Outside you get free bags for dogpoo. The young operators of the pub were very dedicated, relaxed and kind. They did everything to make us and our dogs feel comfortable. We had pleasant and interesting conversations (although our english is pretty poor), got great excursion tips and my boyfriend could taste many sorts of english beer. We are vegetarians and ordered the falafel burger. Very tasty, a decent portion and priced more than fair. If you eat and drink in the pub, you can spend the night in the parking lot free of charge. Considering that you easily pay 20-30 pounds on a campsite (it was main season) and here we got a full meal plus drinks and could stay overnight for about 20 pounds, that's a pretty good offer. There is also electricity, it costs 4 pounds extra. The night was quiet, the morning view over the landscape was gorgeous. We give a clear recommendation, especially for dog-owners and campervan-drivers. Had a great meal here with friends after a walk at Rivelin. If you're veggie or vegan, the spicy falafel and spinach burger is great (I'm not but really enjoyed it). The falafel wrap my friend had was huge - came with rice, chips and salad! Nice sitting-out space with a play area. Staff are very friendly and efficient.

We stayed over in our campervan. Initially I phoned to pre book 4 vans with EHU and a table for 7 people. On arrival there was some confusion as only 1 of the vans was booked in. The staff were very apologetic and quickly resolved the misunderstanding. We had some extremely fussy people in our group and the staff were always polite snd courteous and VERY patient with us. The food was amazing! One of the best stakes I've had in a long time. The portions were very generous and all 7 people really enjoyed the food including the yummy puds! The pub is dog friendly which was a bonus for us. The car park is on a slight slope but didn't bother us. There is no designated parking for vans and the EHU point is in the far corner of the car park so a long cable might just come in handy. Only 2 out of the 4 vans used the electric. Thank you for accommodating us even when some of my group became a bit opinionated which I can only apologise for.

A really random visit not planned. Decided to walk some of the Rivelin Valley and found the Three Merry Lads listed on Google maps! What a surprise!! Parked up in both our Motorhomes, as it was Sunday we enquired whether we could book a table, lovely service and response. We arrived early as it was a miserable day so didn't walk far. No problem accommodating us even though busy. 4 of us with three dogs - VERY dog friendly - even met Dave the huge Great Dane!!.... Food was excellent, freshly prepared, hot and tasty. Drinks with choice of cask ales also excellent having Taylors Landlord and Bradfield Brewery's ales too. Can't fault it and will be back. Average prices and GOOD value for money.

Nice old fashioned pub with a log burner. Food was great and real ales are well kept and well presented. The decor is tired and needs decorating.

Beautiful traditional style pub which has real fires and a lovely warm atmosphere. The staff were excellent and very friendly and the food was top notch for the price! P.s. the Lamb burger is amazing.
