We had a superb evening meal here, beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The landlord and staff are amazing and couldn't do enough for us, I'll remember our evening for a long time and will definitely be returning as often as possible to try the rest of the mouthwatering menu! The place itself is also beautiful inside and out, and spotlessly clean. Thanks guys for making it so special!
I was staying at The Worsley Cottage Guest House and the proprietors mentioned that The Wortley Arms had changed hands and mentioned that it was good. Well I wasn't disappointed.
I was welcomed at the bar with a smiling face and a warm welcome.
I inquired if they had a table for one and I was shown to my tablet, all in a professional manner.
The menu is not vast which I like, as I always think that with a limited menu that the food will be of good quality and fresh, and I wasn't disappointed.
I ordered the Derbyshire Pie. The pie was very tasty and the vegetables were hot and good.
The whole experience was good, friendly and professional.
Right, would I recommend and come again. A Definite YES.
If you are in the area, I would recommend trying here.
If you like my honest review please follow me as I have a lot and regular review venues.
McGilverys always was the best fish and chips when they were located in Fox Valley. Their recent move to The Wortley Arms was a good enough reason to take my parents there for their 55th wedding anniversary. Good to report that the fish and chips are still absolutely amazing 👏 Mum said the pie was wonderful too. All the very best wishes to Wendy and Alan for their new venture. Absolutely, we'll be back.
We were seated in a room out of the main bar area which granted us a nice quiet, relaxing experience. Drink and food were served quickly after being ordered.
Everyone in our party of 6 opted for a Sunday roast. All three meat options of beef, lamb & chicken were selected and served amongst the 6 of us.
No complaints at all. Generous servings and all well cooked.
Desserts were very good too.
Great place, some of the food wasn’t overly hot which was disappointing
Out and about today and stumbled on this place by accident. Went in and were greeted by a lovely guy who was friendly and polite the whole way through our meal. The food was really lovely couldn't fault it at all. The portions were great, and one thing I will say is that their coffee is actually hot. Thank you. If we are ever in the area again, we will be back xx
Visited Mcgilvery’s on opening weekend and they have done a great job uplifting the decor and making it homely and modern with a great use of space.
It’s a great spot for a bite to eat and or a drink. We had a newborn baby and there was plenty of room for a pram also and we learned it was dog friendly so will be bringing the pooch next time.
We were a party of 4 with newborn and all the plates were empty when we had brunch. All the food is of great quality and taste amazing especially the triple cooked chips.
We payed around £14 per head with drinks which is great value for money considering the quality and the portions.
A really lovely spot and we will be recommending to family and friends.
Looking forward to the next visit.
A very busy Saturday night. Very atmospheric pub, great lighting, warmth from the fire a lovely experience. Service delivered with a smile, very efficient team. The food delicious, two great choices, cod loin with curried leeks and potato bhaji and a huge portion of fish and chips. All in all a perfect experience, we'll be back!
Excellent breakfast, With friendly staff and good prices. And a lovely building. Will be going back for Sunday dinner .
Absolute amazing country pub for Sunday dinner. The food was fantastic, generous portions too. Great atmosphere and look to the place. The staff were very polite and helpful. We will definitely be visiting again very soon!
