Dropped on this lovely pub after a walk in the area. Lovely home cooked food. Had the fish goujon sandwich off the light bite menu at lunchtime. Shared the chips with my friend. The portion was huge. A little gem. Will definitely go back.
We went for the lunchtime menu which was basically the same but smaller portions. So glad we did as the portion was still more than enough. The plates were more like bowls and fortunately in Yorkshire we love our gravy and it was delicious. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable and made for an enjoyable experience.
Went on a Saturday evening and it was very busy but there is plenty of parking.
The staff were friendly, especially as they had not got our table booking but managed to fit us in.
The menu is quite varied, with something for most people. After our order was taken, it was an hour that we waited for our food. A couple of requests we had asked for were not done.
The food was well prepared and presented nicely. They cleared some plates away while some in the party were still eating which I don't like. There was no offer of a desert menu, coffee etc.
Overall, it was nice food, friendly staff but just a couple of things that could be improved.
Popped in for a meal while in Sheffield for the snooker with friends, and so glad we did.
The pub is amazing, very family friendly and the staff could not be nicer if the tried.... Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The seafood platter I had was stunning, and cooked by Jamie Oliver (no, not that one, although I recon it would be hard to tell the difference 😂).
We will be coming back next year for the snooker and this is definitely on our list of places to go back to that's fir sure.
If you are looking for a great pub with good beers, amazing food and a brilliant atmosphere, try here... You won't be disappointed 👍
First visit for me , went with a friend who is a regular and had spoken about it a lot 😀 lived up to my expectations!! Lovely place , great food and very helpful and friendly staff. I'll definitely be back .
Went for a walk to the woods and a couple of walkers recommended we go here for a pint after. We managed to get seated for food as well by chance. the Sunday dinner was beautiful just enough on the plate home made puds with a small tray of seasonal veg. Staff were polite and the atmosphere of the pub was very nice. Love the old pubs the best. Nice pint and nice wine. Pub parking at the is really good never seen that big of a car park for a pub that size
Visited The Old Red Lion for Mother’s Day today…we have all really enjoyed ourselves. From start to finish the service was amazing! All staff were smiley, welcoming and made sure we were all happy. The food was fantastic- my favourite was the Sunday roast beef dinner, the meat melted in my mouth it was gorgeous! We will all definitely come again. Thanks Top Red, you have made my first Mother’s Day one to remember!
Went in to look at booking a wake for a funeral that was in a few weeks, spoke to a lovely man called Dave, who sat us down, got cups of teas to talk through dates and price ranges of the different packages.
Looking round the pub, it was very light and bright atmosphere, there was a baby shower going off in the bottom near the door of the pub, at the top people were having afternoon dinner. I was looking round and all the food looked really good, and spotted a few doggies.
After discussing prices and date with Dave for the wake, we booked and left a deposit. Then we decided to stop and have dinner, we both ordered the roast beef with Yorkshire pudding(see pictures), it was lovely. The staff were brilliant and friendly and food came quick and hot.
At the wake, staff were excellent and so accommodating, the buffet was already for us on our arrival, with quick service at the bar for the amount of people that came to celebrate at the wake which was about 50 people. Also with our package we got table chips which were amazing!
Just would like to pass on my thanks to the staff for making an emotional day, very memorable!
Thanks you!
Went with a group of work colleagues and couldn't have been looked after better. Very nice atmosphere and the staff were very attentive from the moment we got there. Food was lovely and not too expensive so I would highly recommend this place.
Had a meal here today. Lovely place. Newly refurbished to a high standard. Great food..Best mushroom soup I've ever had! The bangers n mash was delicious with onion gravy & fresh vegetables. The staff topped off an excellent experience with their friendliness & efficiency. Someone recommended this place to me & I highly recommend it too. Thankyou
