Called in without a booking as I thought it looked nice. What a surprise will definitely be back we are blessed to have some good eateries in the general area this one is as good as any and better than most. Well done to all concerned. Great vegetarian option the wife enjoyed the mushroom and spinach Wellington.
Review based on a group of 20 having an early Sunday Xmas lunch.
Normally you see plates of gorgeous food with no idea of how appetising it is, what better to see what was left of a turkey lunch with all the trimmings, that's right two Brussel sprouts, and they were the only disappointment, hard as bullets.
The desert, bread and butter pudding was unconventionally presented but tasted superb, only let down by the canned custard.
Overall good food in pleasant surrounding with good service.

We had a great night last night, for the Wife's Birthday
I just want to give a shout out to the restaurant as it was great, and i highly recommend them.
We decided to try the Restaurant in Spinkhill Angel & Harlequin Bistro the restaurant did not disappoint.
The food was fantastic & the service was great. We never wanted for anything. The drinks kept flowing.
The steak was cooked to perfection, we asked for medium rare and it was spot on, the giant stuffed portobello mushroom was delicious, and the hand-cut chunky chips also delicious.
Polite helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.
And the price was far cheaper than expected,
We will definitely be back.
We then ended the night in the best pub in town for a game of pool @thecarrwoodarms
My friend recommended that we come here so we did, and I am glad that we did. The pub/bistro is very cute, I love the interior design. You can just turn up you don't have to book. The coffee was really good and the food was very tasty. The menu isn't massive but it is only a small bistro, and sadly there is only 1 vegan option, so maybe would recommend trying to have more vegan/vegetarian options. Overall lovely experience and would recommend
We were a party of 10 on Mother’s Day later in the afternoon.
We had pre-ordered our food to ensure what we wanted was available.
Everything was delicious. The starters, mains and desserts. All piping hot and fresh. Plenty of well cooked potatoes and veg. Lots of lovely gravy including a scrumptious mushroom sauce for the vegetarian option (a very nice mushroom wellington). The restaurant was packed, but this had no negative effect on the quality of the food, service or wait time. My whole family were very happy. Recommended!
Had Sunday Lunch today 2 July
Was absolutely delicious, the beef was so tender it melted in your mouth, variety of vegetables, crispy roast potatoes, giant Yorkshire pudding.
Dessert fruit crumble and custard amazing.
Glass of Malbec and finished with coffee.
Definitely recommended x
Brilliant Sunday lunch recommend the child's portion at £8 and the starter and deserts were brilliant fed 4 plus drinks for £90 Definitely returning
I found this local Bistro recently and have visited on a couple of occasions; once for lunch and another time for dinner. The Angel and Harlequin is a quaint looking pub on the exterior but cosy and chicly decorated inside. The staff are all friendly and service throughout my visits was prompt but not rushing. The food was generally all of a good quality and appropriate portion sizes. I had an eggs Benedict for the lunch, and a camembert to share, burger and milkshake for the evening meal. They were all priced fairly but I did find the ice cream milkshake a little plain. Will definitely be visiting again and well worth the trip if you are in the area.
Great food, lovely atmosphere and good service visited for a family birthday party in the upstairs room on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Highly recommend little gem of a place this one
This place was amazing....great list of specials, staff were incredibly helpful. I had the fillet steak pizza. Food so good we went back the next day for brunch.

What a little gem!! Revisited.
Anyone making a trip N/S on the M1 listen!! The Angel is just 1 1/2 miles from jnc 30 and its going a big difference to your journey than using the motorway service areas.
Yeah it's costs more but oh my, does chef know how cook steak or what!!!
We took a second visit to celebrate a birthday and the service was fantastic.
Food is prepared to order and it's super fresh.
The building looks like an old club but inside, the decor is really good.
We went today for my birthday. It’s our first visit and we absolutely loved it. The food and service were spot on. We will definitely be returning
Visted for the first time yesterday. Amazing food and excellent service, will definitely return. Best Guten free restaurant we have been too.
We had a big family Christmas lunch on Saturday - 23 of us. I picked the Angel and Harlequin for its reviews, its vegetarian friendly menu and its location (giving us all equal travelling to do). I was blown away by the location and the lovely countryside surrounding the village. We all liked the place and the food and the beer! Even my sister-in-law, who was a catering professional, was complimentary about the food. We could choose from either the daily menu or the Christmas menu and it looked to me from the family’s responses (the silence that descended while everyone got stuck into the mains) that the options were equally good. The Welbeck Abbey pale ale on draught was very nice indeed. For a party it is advisable to book well ahead and you need to pay a deposit to secure the booking and order menu choices a week in advance. But that is fairly usual. The upstairs room was very comfortable - comfy sofas even - and had a very cosy atmosphere. Sometimes rooms for groups can be a bit functional but not this one. It has an aesthetic.
Be aware there are steps and no lift but we had both elderly and disabled (not wheelchair bound though) members of our party and everyone coped. The steps are not many, not that steep and there is a sturdy handrail.
We hung a round chatting after the meal and nobody came to chuck us out even though I know there were later bookings.
All round the A and H ticked all the boxes and came up trumps. I felt I was taking a bit of risk picking a restaurant I had not personally visited for our family “do”. With so many people involved and it being a rare occasion for us all to get together I really didn’t want it to bomb! And it didn’t. It was throughly enjoyable.
Great food, we ordered two pizzas to take away and they were delicious, speedy service and the inside of the Bistro was lovely however I didn’t stay long
I had my leaving do at the Angel on Saturday afternoon. The food was amazing and the staff couldn’t do enough to help! Great food/ staff and wonderful atmosphere, thank you
Went for my mum's 80th in a group of 22. The food and the service was exceptional. Everyone happy
Absolutely delicious pizza and steak! The staff were lovely and very welcoming! Will definitely be going back. The deep fried mushy peas couldn't be missed!!
