Unbelievable food.. highly recommend the white bait and the garlic mushrooms and the staff are sooo lovely deffinately worth a visit x
Early evening is fantastic here, watching horses galloping in the surf and fishermen (beech casting) going about what they do was a treat! Great little pub..
Everytime I eat here 3 so far, food is delicious, beer is rather lovely and the service and staff are so helpful and polite and you couldn't ask for a better view to sea!
We just came back from our lovely holiday on Isle of Wight. On the top of it I have made a surprise for hubby 40th Birthday in Fisherman's Cottage. Place been booked via the internet for 9 people, everything been prepared perfect, even the birthday cake was waiting for us as we came from Birmingham. Food was delicious and perfectly made, and the sea view just breathtaking. Highly recommended! Defo will come back soon!
Best view when drinking a pint that I know of! Ales are great and although not eaten there, bar snacks looks good
Wonderful setting, good food and the staff are fantastic. A real treat for us and the dogs. Thank you.
Lovely old fashioned pub good selection of food and drink , relaxing sitting outside looking at the sea
It was a wonderful discovery on our walk yesterday, beautiful spot, lovely people and lovely choice of drinks. Will be back
Food and service is great and drinks are a fair price, good outdoor seating
Great views, great food and great prices! The staff in there are great too!
The Fisherman’s Cottage is part of the same business that runs Shanklin Chine. The pub is situated beside one of the exits from the chine and is close to the entrance.
We booked a table by email, but arrived early and had no problem getting a table.
It’s a small and comfortable pub that is attractively decorated.
The food was good and so was the beer. The staff were helpful and friendly.
For warmer times, there is outdoor seating.
After visiting the Shanklin Chine, we walked down hill and straight to the Fisherman’s Cottage, an adorable little pub on the beach. Lovely decor, friendly staff, fast service - we loved the little buzzers on the table that you press if you need anything. The vegetarians in our family were happy with their choices, Grilled Halloumi and Jacket Potatoes with Cheese and Beans. My husband and I liked our Seafood Spaghetti, the taste was fine, however the presentation left a lot to be desired. Fish and Chips were also fine, good portions.
When I am giving 5 star, that really means the place deserves these. I had heard the name of Fisherman’s cottage well before visiting the place but always wanted to try once. So here my experience:
1. Mind blowing location (see the video)
2. Known for its fish & chips and yes, the battered fish was unique. Means I had in London at many best places but this one is something really crazy. The flakiness is really awesome and they get fresh water fish daily on their boat.
3. The ambience will take you into 1800.
Overall this place is a real gem. Must visit for all who are visiting Isle of Wight.
Was very busy, visited in the past for a drink, this time managed to get a table :-)
This is pub grub which was expected, but cooked to a high standard and served to a even higher standard.
I ordered just white bait (with no salad) it was the best white bait I have eaten and certainly meal sized!!!!!
We also had scampi and chips and a fish pie, both dishes perfectly cooked and meal sized portions (scampi was again the best eaten)
Staff all polite and happy to help and chat!
The atmosphere next to the beach was equally amazing
You really must try this place, it ticks every box,
Will certainly be going again
Great pub with good food. The view is unbeatable, staff is good but take too much pride in the ‘we are a bit slow paced in the Island’ vibe, I may have some of my order because I thought u were ready, I was not rushing you, everything else was great apart from that. No mainland prejudice please.
Love this pub, visited 3 days in a row on our recent holiday. Friendly staff and good quality food. Found some other pubs quite frosty if hadn’t booked a table, but the staff very friendly and accommodating. Great location looking over the sea, looking forward to returning
Warm chicken salad and hummus falafel salad were really good. Great service - friendly and quick - and an awesome atmosphere, both inside and outside. Amazing view sitting outside.
.e ans my partner went last week and we can honestly say it's the best place we have ever eaten. The service was fantastic, never had to wait around for anything. The atmosphere was lovely especially being literally on the beach. Very cosy feel inside but most of all the food was beyond amazing. If you a fan of fish or not there is plenty to chose from and all taste good. I have to say there food is so good I wouldn't even care where they served it to me. Yes I'm cheap and I don't tip anyone but I did these guys! I'm trying to write this review but there are genuinely not enough words to describe how much we loved it here. We will be travelling to the Isle of Wight again literally just to eat here
Absolutely delicious, hot very fresh food which arrived incredibly quickly. Service is friendly and very helpful indeed, highly recommended!
Excellent location Mussels fantastic. A waiter called Martin. Absolutely great. I cover 35- 50 pubs a week as a Surveyor. Some pubs need to learn this customer service. Highly recommended 👌
Another little gem tucked away at the end of Shanklin beach. A friendly pub with great staff . a perfect place to sit with a cold drink and watch ships sail past on the English Channel or people playing on the beach. A unique feature you don't find in many pubs is the call button on the tables where you can press for service, even for getting the staff to get you a drinks while enjoy the view.
We Never ate Here .But it was A Popular Pub. Locals with Bowls Full of Mussels. And Holiday Families with Children Enjoying There Meals. We Had 3 Drinks 1x Double Vodka and Lemonade. 1xGuinness and 1x Carlsberg. The Price was £18:30'p. Was An Old Marine Bar at the Chine End of Shanklin Promenade. But We Usually Sat Out Side with a Drink at The Steamer. A Lot More Reasonable Priced.
Everything was perfect, the food was delicious, staffs were lovely and friendly, our seating outside was perfect with the lovely view of the beach.
Love love love Fisherman's Cottage. Delicious food and drinks. Staff are always lovely. Situated right on the beach with amazing views 👌
What an amazing venue! Quaint little pub in a beautiful location. Picturesque views and such high quality and fresh food at a very decent price. Customer service was top notch, came with children and they ate every scrap of all three courses. Only managed to grab a few pictures before diving into the food. A must visit if you are in the area, we will definitely be back.
Lovely beer served to my table with a view of the beach. Did not eat but the menu looked good as did the food served. Fully recommended for nice drink and peace.
Beautiful place, really nice food. Eat in or out. Only very small criticism is that because it's a great pub, it's popular and that means people will need to wait until someone has finished. Can be a little intimidating if your not ready to go knowing people want to eat too. We did not have any issues as everyone waiting were patient.
