Relaxed restaurant on the cliffs at Shanklin, with stunning views out to sea. The restaurant is a lovely shack with a great atmosphere. Good range of vegan options - I loved the sausages with new potatoes. The vegan cheesecake was also really good! Could not fault it
I came here with two friends who are local to the island and come often. We were aware you had to pre book, which seems a surprise to some people reading the reviews, It’s a busy little place so booking makes sense.
We had no issues parking, we just parked down the road and enjoyed the sea views on the short walk to the bar. We booked an outside table to make the most of the views on a lovely sunny day and sat in the bar for a little bit until our table was ready as we were quite early.
Our table was a booth and was nice and comfy with added cushions which was a nice touch. They had a good selection of choices on their menu and also a specials board inside including sausages for your dog. I had the pork belly and it was cooked perfectly with a nice bit of cracking on top! My husband and friend had the gammon and her husband had burger, no complaints from anyone! All perfectly cooked and 4 empty plates finished off with a chocolate orange cake with custard.
The views while we were eating were beautiful and every member of staff was friendly and helpful. The gentleman running the outside bar was kind enough to fetch something from inside for my friend.
Highly recommend this little gem on the IOW and will definitely cone back when we next visit your lovely island.
Thanks very much for making our trip that much more enjoyable :)
Nice place to enjoy the view and have a drink and a bite to eat. Menu for food not too big at lunch time but was good enough when hungry. Enjoyed the cloudy lemon cider though so worth trying.
Lovely intimate little place. Seating inside and outside. Space is limited so you MUST book to avoid disappointment. DOG FRIENDLY. Dogs will be in dining room .
I would of given 5 stars, but had bad salad experience! Even though i mentioned the salad had gone bad on my starter i got bad salad again with my main!
The garlic bread with my pasta was not enjoyable either. My partner loved his squid and steak. I loved my halloumi and lasagna. Nice place to get a drink. Highly recommend the raspberry and pomegranate gin .
I parked for free in a nearby street.
Amazing views and fab food. So friendly and a great place for kids. They even had a station full of things to keep kids entertain which was very much appreciated. Particularly recommend the Lemon Roulade for dessert if it’s on the menu! Nom.
A lovely restaurant with beautiful sea views and tasty food. The staff here were excellent and kind, this place really made our holiday and we visited lots of times whether it was just for a pint or a sit down meal.
Great view, if it was not raining. 😆
The missing one star is because the pork skin is not crispy. BUT overall the food is great!
Absolutely gorgeous and welcoming home from home. It really is a little hideaway; we're upset we only discovered it on our last day otherwise we'd have been there every day, I'm sure! Lovely food, just brilliant service and can't do enough for your dog! Highly recommended! With special thanks from Loki. xxx
Love love love The Hideaway. We always eat here a few times every visit to the Island. Shaz and her team are amazing. Food is delicious 😋. Amazing views from the cliff top
Love this unconventional delightful eclectic bar and restaurant overlooking the sea. You find it by walking along the coastal path. Really nice staff and a simple but good menu. We had lunch which was very reasonably priced. Look out for the specials; I had the jumbo garlic prawns that were great. Good outdoor seating and some indoor. Will go here again.
