Lunch time stop for beer & sandwich. The beer (Harveys) was excellent as was the salt beef sandwich. The service was good and Ben (landlord) was a pleasure to meet. The garden was small but lovely with beautiful views of the nearby hills. Plenty of clean drinking water provided for dogs. Highly recommend.
The staff are fantastic and so polite. The food is great to the portions are great I promise you you will not walk out still feeling hungry like some pubs
Ben the landlord is so down to earth and friendly, very attentive to all his customers. No airs and graces but good friendly service with a smile a great sense of humour.
A enjoyable Sunday lunch. Overgenerous portions of main course. We all enjoyed our roast dinners. Service good. Modest price. Attentive delightful Scottish landlord. Our group of 11 were well looked after. We hope to go back one day. To be recommended.
This is definitely one of the nicest place I have been to. I have only been there for a meal twice, and can honestly say that I gave never been disappointed with the meals I had.
The first time I went there I gad the roast lamb with vegetables, unfortunately when I got there yesterday the only option available was the roast beef, as the Lamb abd Chicken had all gone & boy oh boy! was I glad. The beef was cooked to absolute perfection by Ben (The Owner)
I would suggest phoning at 12.00pm (when they open) or a day or two in advance if possible, to book a table , and get there early..
Ben and his staff are extremely pleasant, & can't do enough to make sure you enjoy your experience of eating at his Pub/Restaurant. I would definitely go again.
My thanks to everyone at The Plough in Basted, Kent .
Until the next time..
We had a wonderful couple of roast dinners. The food is absolutely amazing and portion size is nothing short of gargantuan. Well worth a visit as this is now our number 1 choice for a Sunday Roast which we will be bringing our friends and family too.
Excellent Sunday lunch, with great service. What more would you want?
Great local pub. If you're after after fine dining, seek out the other local Plough! This is pub grub as it should be, high quality and high volumes! Amazing gin collection, lovely secluded, sun-drenched pub garden in a quiet, country setting, but it isn't twee, it's a pub that services it's local people!
Had a great Sunday lunch. The lamb was very tasty with roast potatoes, parsnips, runner beans, carrots and broccoli, with two Yorkshire puddings and thick gravy. Very reasonably priced. Great attentive service. All tables cleaned between use. Good sized servings. Will be returning
We stopped in for a pint and a bite of lunch whilst walking in the area. The real ale was nicely kept and the food was superb. Very generous portions of really good home-cooked food. Definitely worth a visit.
Great little country pub in a picturesque quiet corner of Kent with a real local feel . Nice selection of tasty food including a delicious range of pies . Staff are also very friendly. We'll worth a visit
Nice country pub, friendly atmosphere, but very small and a bit cramped on a Sunday. Nice food but book in advance if you want a roast on Sunday as it does get fully booked. Good for ramblers passing by and locals alike. Presume dog friendly as I did see a couple of dogs in there.
Nice little country public house, one of the very few left
Lovely pub with a excellent friendly atmosphere. Good selection of meals on the menu and great choice of beers. Barmaid Claire is superb! From the welcoming smile and banter, to the offer of bringing the drinks to our table, she was brilliant!
First time I've visited here. I can say the service was brilliant. Staff was so helpful. Thank you again to Ben who cooked our food too. Was well looked after our needs. So guys who ever is reading this, pls visit them.
Ben and his team have amazed us once again, Ben's attentive and beyond friendly team were beyond on point for father's Day today!!! Brilliant food/service could not fault will definitely be returning! Thank you!!!
Stumbled upon this place whilst doing the well documented Borough Green to Igtham walk. Dropped in for a pint and was served by a very friendly barmaid. Good range of ales were in stock and all reasonably priced. Landlord was also friendly. Intriguing place, will definitely be returning to sample the food.
A gem of a pub, good selection of beers, food looks excellent, lots of special offers, and ideal for walking my dog by the lakes then a pint at the end of it.
This is a lovely traditional country pub, tucked away in the Kent countryside with absolutely no passing trade. The people who are here have sought it out. Sought it out for its beer, sought it out for its ambiance, sought it out for its hospitality and sought it out for its food. And i cannot think of anywhere else you can get a pasty and a pint and change from a tenner!
