What a great country pub.
We stayed for three nights and enjoyed every minute.
The staff and locals are friendly and welcoming.
The food is particularly great, very tasty, ample portions and plenty of choice.
The sticky toffee pudding made by the young apprentice chef is particularly excellent - even though I don’t usually usually eat puddings, ate half of my wife's, much to her annoyance 🤣
Breakfasts has lots of tasty choices.
The Sunday night pizzas are also great.
The bar has a wide choice of drinks and the room we had was large and comfortable.
Without doubt next time we're in the area, this will be our first choice of place to stay.
5 stars all round.
A proper, proper pub. Knows what it is, and does it excellently. No pretentiousness, and quite different to some of the more ‘gastro’ pubs nearby. Lovely setting in the heart of Semley. We had a good, filling meal before a long drive home!
We stopped overnight in our motorhome. The staff were very welcoming and the food was very reasonable and tasty. Good selection of beers. Will definitely visit again 👍
Wonderful welcome from everyone when we arrived. Excellent selection of drinks and lovely selection of food that was delicious. We look forward to returning during the week of our stay
Randomly just looked at Google and saw I left a review when my mate and I came in and got blitzed. I didn't add any reason why i rated it so high so I'm doing it now. Was an amazing night they had a karaoke. Staff are very attentive and didnt mind chatting with us when we got bored abusing everyone's ears with karaoke. We ordered steak which was just amazing. Definitely can't wait until i find my self back up semley for another visit. <3
One of the best value for money pub b&bs I have stayed in on a work trip staff excellent food excellent made very welcome by locals breakfast really good will definitely be returning on my next trip to the area.
We spent a night via britstops. Really nice and friendly hosts, the pub is cozy and feels tradional to us. Food, beer and wine 5 * we will always come back for a night over.
Good food & beer. Nice pub in rural location, food was good pub food, nothing really fancy, but nice, homemade food, with proper pies (pastry all the way around!). Good selection of CAMRA real ales.
The young blonde girl was so nice and charismatic. She was so helpful and deffo made my experience positive. Nothing bad to say :)
After going left numerous times my satnav abandoned me so I had to ring to ask the way and Michelle said she would stand at the door and look out for me...that was the start of a welcoming nights stay. Thanks
If your looking for a friendly local pub to stay in, I can highly recommend this one! A normal local pub in a wonderful location with great hosts. The Rooms are clean and tidy and the beds are comfortable, we had 2 singles which were more than adequate in size. Cooked breakfast was nice, dinner was quite simply put great! Home style cooked food. Steak and kidney pie, fish cakes, steaks etc and a board of specials, what more do you need. The bar isn’t very big but hosts a fair variety of local ales, wines and spirits. Do not let the road side style parking put you off, we always managed to get a space. We will definitely be looking at coming back here again next year!
Really impressed with this proper pub. I had the best fish and chips I had eaten in a long time and my husband had a delicious steak and kidney pie. Such good value. The bar was cosy and the staff really welcoming and friendly. I recommend this pub 100%! There’s a good walk from it too.
A nice country pub. A simple choice for Sunday lunch but very good. Well kept ales.
Really enjoyable friendly country pub. Wonderful hosts and staff were on hand and so helpful. Handy location for lots of attraction with an hour's drive. Longleat 20 mins away. Food was excellent quality and very reasonably priced. Room was basic but very clean , well equipped and just outside the pub. We will certainly be returning as this was probably the best value for money on a short stay we've had.
We went in here to have a few drinks on the 9th August and straight away we noticed how cool it was and everyone was sat outside so it was quiet inside where we sat. This was a bit of a celebration for my wife, she has been suffering with agoraphobia for the past 9 years and this was the first pub she wanted to go to. John behind the bar, you were amazing. Thank you. My wife hasn't stopped praising you for your kind words. Highly recommend this place, it's family friendly, the locals were lovely and the cider was very good too
Extremely attentive and went above and beyond accomodating for dietary requirements. We ate lovely food, experienced beautiful surroundings and were looked after by very friendly staff. Perfect peaceful spot for a meal. 🙂
We haven't visited this pub for probably over 30 years and decided to have a meal in the evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The landlord, landlady and their team of staff were really friendly, making us very welcome. It was a nice place to chill out and relax after a busy day at work. The steak and kidney pie I had was homemade and very tasty. My wife enjoyed her spicy chicken burger as well. We will definitely be back soon.
- The staff were very friendly, they made myself and my family very welcome, they went out of their way to be accommodating and helpful.
The landlady Sam and one of her staff spent a couple of hours chatting to us about the pubs history etc. By the end of our stay they had made us feel like friends rather than just guests The rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean.
We all enjoyed our breakfast, it was tasty, hot and there was plenty to eat and drink.
We would definitely recommend this quaint village pub and accommodation, we will be booking to re-visit next year.
Excellent home cooked food and great service in a fantastic setting
