Celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with a meal here and was astonished by how beautiful the food was - always touch and go in pubs in my experience but not here. This was really fabulous, so thank you very much :-)
Visiting area for the week and stumbled Upon the Selborne Arms. Had very nice Sunday lunch today. Excellent service, friendly staff, asked for extra mash and it arrived without a quibble. Very good choice of beer too. Definitely worth a look.
Always has well-kept, hand-pumped ales. Though the beer garden could do with a Alan Titchmarsh makeover. The shabby-chic look now is more like a dumping ground!
Fabulous old style pub with delicious food and plenty of local wildlife! Definitely a place to return to time after the time .. Great barman too!!!
Warm, relaxed, friendly, chill place...and Good food. Divine chocolate dessert.
Very lovely country pub, pleasant people, good outside seating area for Sunny Day's.
We had Christmas dinner there with 24 people and about three times each year we book the Hanger Bar for 20 - 30 runners. The Selborne Arms always comes up trumps at these events.
Delicious food. Great staff. Fabulous atmosphere.
We were told the wait for the Pie would be around 20 minutes, the landlord explained it would be worth it. How true was he, absolutely beautiful. Now I have had a good pie but today this was an awesome pie. The pub was warm and friendly, run by those rare people we so much miss these days, i forgot to do a tip but promise to do so again, because we shall come back.
This was not our first time attending this lovely and friendly place. One of the best aspects of visiting this place today is that someone had clearly made an effort in relation to the flowers. They were absolutely beautiful and this level of attention to detail is one of the things that makes The Selborne Arms such a lovely place to visit.
We only stopped in for a pint. It was fairly busy and I liked the fact that there were so many dogs in the pub. The owners kept them on a short leash and the dogs didn't cause any trouble.
I took the time to walk around the pub and photographed several items. It is evident that there is a dinstinct attention to detail.
The woman behind the bar was lovely (she had blonde hair) and the members of staff appeared to be working hard, such as the young woman with darker hair who was getting the cutlery ready. They clearly take pride in their work.
I recommend this place 100%. It is a friendly atmosphere and I also recommend walking around the pub to appreciate its idiosyncrasies.
We were here for lunch on a very hot day. Interior was pleasantly cool and food selection good. Beers on offer were very good choices. Staff were friendly enough, although at times more interested in their mobiles.. I would be happy to return for lunch on another occasion.
Great meal with my brother and sister in law, thank you.
The chicken pie was a little dry but apart from that, all good
I love this pub - always proceeded or, this evening, followed by a walk up a Zigzag hill which is stunning.
We all had Stake and Ale Pies (3 of which were vegan) and they were all delicious. I would highly recommend this pub - very local, and very welcoming too!
Decent local pub with a great selection of regional beers. My friend and I stopped in on a walk from Petersfield to Alton and both enjoyed a pint got Sheppard's pie with steamed vegetables. The food was hearty and the beer. Not would you might call a gastro-pub but a decent enough place to have a Sunday lunch.
Stopped for lunch at this lovely little pub. We all had the beef baguette to eat, which was very good. A range of ales, ciders and lagers served by very friendly staff.
Lovely little village local, very well supported by both locals and visitors. Friendly and welcoming owners and staff. Large car park to rear...but quite oddly...the disabled parking is in the overflow section? (Logic dictates that closer would be better).
The original building dates back to circa 1650...so that alone, should be a draw. Menu looks good, food smells wonderful. Free WiFi...and joy of joy...a beautiful country pub/restaurant that DOESN'T allow dogs.
Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.
Great food and kids loved the playground in the garden.
AVOID THE PAID PARKING SPACES (for Gilbert White's House)!
Got a PCN after paying for 90% of my stay there...the other 10% was spent understanding the app / trying to make the payments! Don't make your stay here £60 more expensive than it has to be and find free parking elsewhere.
Edit - Thanks for the prompt response :) I should have called before paying it, looks like I tried to make the problem go away too quickly!
Birthday meal. Great beer, reasonable pub food. Excellent beer garden and atmosphere...
Had a lovely meal and drinks tonight with family. Hayley cooked and Sharon served. All beautiful. Great service and great food. Hope to be back again another time. Thank you. Jina and family.
Good menu and a lovely shady garden to sit in. Parking somewhat creative though.
Beautiful country pub. Lovely garden, live music, food was great, friendly staff. Can’t wait to return.
Great pub, I sometime go in here when up Petersfield way
Nice pub and restaurant nice big back garden and summer hut with plenty of tables nicely painted definitely dry when we sat on them nice spot in the village and sat right at the foot of the zigzag path landlord and landlady very friendly and helpful run off their feet as well as the staff plenty of choice of drinks didn't have food on this occasion but it looked good so hoping to go back soon and will definitely will try it there's also a nice over spill garden being done up which would be ideal with the present covid restrictions
We had supper at the Selborne Arms last week. The pies were delicious, the lamb keema one was probably the best pie I have ever tasted. They are all homemade and you can definitely taste it. The steak and ale pie was really good as well, the meat was very tender. I had steak (along with stealing people’s pies!) and it was perfectly cooked, they clearly have a good butcher!
Great food, great atmosphere. Massively recommended!
