Outstanding!! This country pub is fantastic! With it’s up to date modern look but still keeping the old school British pub/restaurant feel. Well run by the owner, he is very friendly & helpful as well as all staff. The locals are friendly & a good laugh, food is amazing!! Highly recommend the mixed grill with its locally sourced meat and homemade sauce, good harty full English breakfast to start the day. The rooms are brilliant! very clean & cosy, with fresh soft towels everyday. They have there own theme with attention to detail, I stayed in the pheasant room which had some cool pheasant props, nice big comfy duble bed. Lovely big pub garden & decent car park. I cannot recommend staying here enough if ur around the area!! 😃😃🤙🏻🤙🏻 10/10 👌🏻👌🏻
I recently had the pleasure of a night away in this beautiful pub. My room was stunning and the decor is lovely and fresh and clean. Ralph couldn’t do enough for us, my partner had arranged my surprise engagement in the next village and was sadly let down last minute, Ralph (the owner) organised something so beautiful and so quickly.. it was stunning and I couldn’t of wished for anything better to happen. The food is Devine and the chef is incredible (its a must try) and the service was second to none. I cannot recommend this place enough and we will be back every year to relive our wonderful day! Thank you Ralph and Sam for our fantastic weekend! X
I dont mind declaring that I know the young man who runs this pub, and I went last night hoping it would be good. In fact it totally exceeded my expectations. They have obviously invested in the building. A beautiful old stone pub now has a wonderful fresh interior. Modern touches but totally in character.
So first impressions, very good - and the George and Dragon Ale proved fresh and rather "moorish". But the real treat was yet to come.
Dinner was simply superb. I went for baked Camembert followed by Cote De Boeuf - and our table of six shared two desserts ( Creme Brûlée and an insanely delightful date dish with ice cream that I did not get the name of )
Beer seemed to keep arriving as well as rather lovely red wine decanted and served by very attentive young staff.
With a tip we payed for two what I am constantly having to pay per head at top London restaurants - and quite honestly the food and every aspect of this experience were as good as I would expect in London.
When the chef came to the tale and shared he has worked at Nobu and The Ivy, I was not surprised.
If the team that served us so well last night read this ....... Thank You
You have created something very special
