Best ever pub food. Our group of four were thoroughly overawed by the quality of the food. The onion rings were the BEST IN THE WORLD!! Chicken, leek and bacon pie, steak and ale pie, fish and chips...... EXCELLENT. Staff brilliant, environment, 100%. Well be back

Firstly just want to say a big thank you to the staff for getting us in here tonight after another establishment messed up our booking. This place certainly has the wow factor. The ambience of the place is gorgeous, our server Beth was so attentive and was well mannered, polite and extremely helpful. The food was delicious. We will certainly be back when we are next on our holidays up here. The starters we had were halloumi fires and cajun prawns Mains were - Chicken & chorizo burger. Steak and chips Fish and chip Fishcake Sliders And child's pasta All were absolutely delicious.

A great pub offering delicious home cooked food. The location is fantastic. Right on the coast with lots of parking. Some great walks nearby too. The pub has a good selection of real ales, but the brewery was closed when we recently visited.

A first class experience & will definitely be going back! Stunning interior with lots of attention to detail. It's own brewery to the pub. Superb range of beers as well as other drinks. Food is excellent; try the amazing fish & fries. A sumptuous main course, cooked to perfection. GO TO THIS PUB !!!

Beautiful historic pub that’s been around since the 1700’s. I had a lovely walk here up from Whitley Bay along the beach and over the public footpaths. There’s a decent sized beer garden at the rear of the pub that welcomes dogs. The only downside is that there were hundreds of little flies in there. I think that’s probably just the time of year though. The pub does have a brewery, but that was closed. The pints or Mercia were excellent. The roast chicken dinner was also excellent. All home cooked and the seasonal veg tasted very fresh.

6pm Tuesday in February. First visit. Excellent food, service, and beer, plus a great music playlist. Update: October 2023 Daturday 6.30pm. Food and service still excellent. Different menu and not as much choice on starters so went for mains and desserts.

Really nice homely pub with good decor, food drinks and service and the girl who served us was good enough to take a photo of our party. Not only that but she got herself in the picture too! Very impressed!

Had my daughters 40th Birthday celebration in the Captains Cabin yesterday. Absolutely great room, literally a hidden gem., with a lovely courtyard seating area too. Christian worked the bar, he couldn't have been more helpful. Thankyou very much again. KJ

Not just a brilliant pub - a brilliant micro brewery too! Right on the coast, with a fantastic dog-friendly terrace and bar. A wide range of tasty beers, brewed onsite, as well as guest ales (including Brew York) and ciders and a fun menu of tasty food. We loved our visit here for lunch - we were a large group (15 people, including young kids and 2 dogs) and the staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating - a big shout out to them. The pub was gorgeous, inside and out - even the loos were lovely. We can't wait to go back!

Had one of the best Sunday dinners here today. The meat and vegetables were cooked to perfection. We had our dog with us and so had to eat in the bar but unlike some places that have a grotty bar area with sports playing on the TV this was a cosy snug area. The service was excellent. Thanks to Christian who looked after us so well. I'd advise booking as very busy and all tables reserved. Will definitely be back.
