6 of us had a fabulous Sunday roast here today. The pub was very busy but we were served promptly, all our orders were correct and we received our extra gravy when requested. The beef dinners were delicious and we all ate every scrap. The roast potatoes were amazing, possibly the best I've ever had! A sharing platter of desserts rounded off a perfect dinner and we were 6 very happy and satisfied customers. I wouldn't often give such a glowing review, but we really couldn't fault it.

Large pub/restaurant in a beautiful part of East Sussex with much inside and outside seating. We just had some drinks there which we enjoyed. This place is a great destination for a coastal walk or a walk in the Downs trail. And… they have a proper coffee machine!

It was awesome, I had visited it couple of times before the covid thing. This time in April 2020 it has even better than I remembered. You can get a free cake and coffee there...I did by signing up for another spam email and it worth it. Despite I have shared it with my peers, not the cake but the info about this freebies not all of them could get it. Surprisingly there was a long delay in food serving after 1:30pm and not all of my peers were left fed as we departed at 2pm. However hungry and complaining peers could not spoil the excitement of me having free cake at 1pm. The pub was bright with a lot of young staff who created the atmosphere of business where I was there on my own sharing three tables with myself and line of people who asked how to get a free cake and coffee. Try duck liver pate, that was good and worked well with the carrot and coriander soup. However nothing could compare to the free Eaton mess and a lot of mess was left when I gone...though, I was kind and left appreciation of the hard work of the waitresses and waiters. The skill of keeping yourself busy when none is around must me complemented and tipped!

Four stars only because of the good location and pleasant interior of the Inn. The staff is very slow. We asked to bring us water, we waited for ten minutes, we had to go to the bar to ask again. Despite the fact that at this time there were almost no people. We only ordered desserts. Dessert with coffee, a £6+ combo would have been extremely small. The dessert, which cost almost nine pounds, consisted of a huge hard piece of bizet, topped with a little cream with a very cold mango, was practically inedible. Most of the bizé was left on the plate. It seems that I have never tried worse than this dessert. Another minus - in the ladies' room, it is almost impossible to wash your hands, since by pressing the water tap and releasing the button, the water immediately stops flowing. That is, you need to constantly press the button with one hand, which is very inconvenient. Another moment, at the beginning we sat on outside, then we had to return inside, because there are a lot of wasps and flies on the street. It is a pity that with such a good location of the Inn and a beautiful interior, the organization of service is very poor.

A quality pub. Great food and service every time I visit. Loads of outdoor seating with scenic views. Perfectly situated for walkers stopping by, as well as adequate space for those driving. Staff are always friendly and helpful. No matter how busy it gets, they still remain professional, positive and polite.

Cozy pub in a lovely setting. This is the perfect stop if you’re exploring the area or hiking the Seven Sisters. It was the perfect respite to have lunch and recharge before I continued my hike. Food and drinks were excellent and I enjoyed sitting out on the terrace.

Have been here three times and all after a big walk from Eastbourne. It is a nice treat to have at the end of the hike. Price: quite dear comparing to other similar pubs but I guess a lot of other pubs don't have the views over cuckmere river. Food: First time here, thought the food was just average. Second time here, thought the food was decent. Now the third time, I have the Penang curry and that was delicious!!! The service: The first two times, I thought the service was really not up to my expectations but today, we had two amazing waiting staff.

Set in beautiful surroundings. Food was really good - fresh and good quality ingredients but is pricey. The only thing that let it down for us was seeing a lot of staff standing around chatting (I have no gripe against chatting to your colleagues but it shouldn’t be when customers need attention) and no one came and asked us if everything was okay with the food etc and we then waited a long time for the bill and in the end I went up to the bar and asked to pay as I realised no one was going to come.

Came on a Tuesday evening for a family meal, our first ever visit . Lovely setting for a spacious restaurant. Service seemed a bit slow and several dishes on the menu were unavailable. That said the food we had was very nice indeed. The staff, Toby in particular, were very pleasant and welcoming and did their jobs efficiently. We had a lovely time and would return again in the future.

Perfect watering hole when exploring the local area. Friendly staff, real log burning fires (yes plural), plenty of outdoor seating, dog friendly, clean and tidy. Food available. Stopped for a drink while adventuring along Cuckmere River and enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine.

This pub is in a great location, after a long day of lots of walking and having fun on the beach a pint in here is an absolute must. Great views across the river. The queue for the bar can stretch out the front door but that's just because its so popular

We had a lovely meal. The main meals were excellent. My husband had the chicken & I had the sea bass. I wouldn’t normally have a dessert but when I saw pavlova on the menu I had to have it. My favourite. Unfortunately this was a. very large meringue with mango & cream. It looked amazing but it was not a pavlova which should be a shallow meringue with a soft chewy centre filled with fruit & cream. It was far too much to eat & quite hard as a meringue would be. My husbands dessert was a fruit crumble which he really enjoyed. I have still given a maximum star award as everything else was perfect. Very polite staff & a nice ambiance. We will def return & would highly recommend your Inn. I just felt I had to tell you about the meringue.

Nice pub for food or a drink. Nice area. Great in the summer. Food was good. Varied in presentation and quantity. Not balanced portions. First course and dessert were quickly dispatched, but seemed a delay for the main. Not sure how effective it would be if they were busy. Service was friendly and polite. Overall a nice meal and evening.

Amazing location, warm welcoming staff and great food to recharge batteries in a relaxing atmosphere. And no, this is not your place if you rush as relax is part of the experience! The view is simply unique. Been there with my family and our little dog, and after our lunch we enjoyed a great walk on the beach. Strongly recommended

I have always thought the food here was not good but WOW what a transformation! The food actually had flavour... but the service was what really made it, I forgot the man's name he was the supervisor i beileve tall and very friendly, my partner has businesses and he said he would love someone like him working for one of his places he had everything under control was very attentive and it was effortless how great he was, so informative and suggested new things made the whole experience enjoyable from the start, The biggest credit to your company and I hope you keep that one as he is a great leader and role model for others. the food was a massive improvent. I can see a huge difference. Hopefully, the business will now thrive like it should in a gorgeous location like that!!! Thanks for a great experience.
